The Cubs will cap off their six-game road trip against the Tigers in a two-game interleague matchup. The Cubs have a 3 1/2 have a game lead over the Brewers. The Cubs are 33-29 when playing on the road this season. The Cubs have a clear path to the postseason all they have to do is fend off the Brewers from taking the division title from them. Coming into this series the Cubs are 8th in pitching and batting with a 3.77 ERA and 588 runs scored this season respectively. Playing against the Tigers shouldn’t be a problem for the Cubs since they swept them at home in their first meeting. This will be an opportunity for the Tigers to sort out their offense since they were unable to capitalize with men on, standing 33 total runners. Going 0 for 17 with runners in scoring position in their previous series against the Pirates.
Player to watch in this series: Kyle Schwarber, he was the only batter who was able to connect on a solo homer against the Pirates, he finished the game 1 for 4. The homer gave him 22 on the season. He’s now homered in two-of-three games. This could be the beginning of a power surge for the left-handed slugger. He will be a factor in the interleague series against the Tigers on the road. On the season he is hitting .244/.361/.470 with 50 RBI and 22 homers.

Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
The Tigers will be back at Comerica Park for a six-game homestand beginning on Tuesday. The homestand opens with a two-game interleague series against the Cubs. The Tigers has no real promise of competing this season they are sitting in 3rd place in the AL Central division with 21 games back of the Indians. Coming into this series the Tigers are 27th in batting with 484 runs scored this season and 21st in pitching with a 4.46 ERA. Player to watch in this series: Jim Adduci, he went 3-for-4 with two RBI in his last outing against the Twins. He hit an RBI double to right field off Twins starter Jake Odorizzi in the second inning, plating Victor Martinez with the first Tigers run of the contest. He also smacked a game-tying RBI single to center field, plating Nicholas Castellanos. On the season he is slashing .291/.315/.430 with two homers and 11 RBI. How Chicago Cubs & Detroit Tigers Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Tigers are 15-36 in their last 51 overall.
Cubs are 10-4 in their last 14 games vs. a right-handed starter.
Against The Spread Selection: Chicago Cubs
My reason for the pick :
The Cubs offense will start to pick things up again after slumping in their previous series against the Pirates. The Cubs will once again sweep the Tigers 2-0 but this time they will do it on the road. Schwarber will have a great series on the plate providing the help that Baez needs. The Cubs can’t afford to drop any more games if they want to end the season as the NL Central division champions. Once the Cubs get their confidence back on the plate they will look to end their regular season on the right foot as they prepare themselves for the postseason. For the Tigers, it is hard for them to make up some ground since their season is practically over.
The Cubs to sweep the Tigers on the road 2-0.
Betting trends for Chicago Cubs :
- Cubs are 5-2 in their last 7 road games.
Betting trends for Detroit Tigers:
- Tigers are 7-19 in their last 26 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.
