Philadelphia Phillies vs Washington Nationals

The Phillies will welcome the Nationals to Nationals Park as the two teams from the NL East division will go head to head in a three-game series starting on Tuesday. The Phillies are second in the division while the Nationals are in third. This will be their fourth meeting of the season the Phillies leads the season series 2-1 over the Nationals.

Game 1-2: 7:05 PM ET

Game 3: 1:05 PM ET

Philadelphia Phillies's Latest Performance :

The Phillies will begin their six-game road trip against the Nationals in a three-game set. The Phillies are coming off a disappointing series split at home against the Mets. The Phillies are on a two-game losing streak and have dropped into second place in the NL East division they are now half a game behind the Braves for the top spot. They will look to bounce back against the Nationals who are almost struggling mightily as of late. The Phillies are in a good position in the standings but they can’t afford to drop any more games. Coming into this series the Phillies are 11th in pitching with a 3.82 ERA and 20th in batting with 534 runs scored this season. The Phillies are 27-34 on the road this season.

Player to watch in this series: Carlos Santana, he struck a two-run homer on Sunday night against the Mets. He went 1 for 4 on the plate and picked up 2 RBIs. He’s now hitting .218/.351/.400 with 18 homers and 69 RBI on the season. I expect him to play a huge part in the series against the Nationals on the road. Santana always shows up in big games for the Phillies.

Team leaders:

Washington Nationals's Latest Performance :

The Nationals will cap off their six-game homestand against their division rival the Phillies in a three-game set. They are coming off one of the worst losses of the year for Washington. They have now lost two straight games and are 6 1/2 games back of the Wild Card spot. The Nationals have now lost nine of their last 13 games in this season-defining stretch. The Nationals are 31-30 when playing at home this season. Coming into this series the Nationals are 12th in batting with 572 runs scored this season and 14th in pitching with a 4.92 ERA. The Nationals must make a late push if they want to make the postseason its now or never.

Player to watch in this series: Bryce Harper, he has to show up for the Nationals against the Phillies at home. After the All-Star break, he hasn’t been himself on the plate playing against the Phillies at home will give him a chance to prove himself and give the Nationals another shot of making the postseason. How Philadelphia Phillies & Washington Nationals Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Nationals are 7-3 in their last 10 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Phillies are 6-2 in their last 8 vs. National League East.

Against The Spread Selection: Washington Nationals

My reason for the pick :

I can assure you that all three games in this series will go down to the wire as the Nationals and the Phillies are equally matched. Both teams have quality pitchers starting in all of the three games. The Phillies will continue to struggle on the road as the Nationals will be looking to take full advantage. Game one will go to the Nationals as Roark will pick up his sixth win in a row. The second game will go to Eflin as he will make a terrific return from the Triple-A and put up a masterful pitching performance. The rubber game will be the most anticipated matchup that everyone will have their eyes on as Scherzer is set to go up against Nola. Both pitchers who are the leading candidates to win the National League Cy Young Award. I am predicting at Scherzer will edge out Nola to claim the series victory for the Nationals at home over the Phillies.

Nationals to beat the Phillies at home 2-1.

Betting trends for Philadelphia Phillies:

  • Phillies are 4-1 in their last 5 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Betting trends for Washington Nationals:

  • Nationals are 9-4 in their last 13 home games.
