Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Detroit Lions vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Detroit Lions will travel to Tampa, Florida, for a preseason week 3 matchup versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday at 8:00 pm EST at Raymond James Stadium. The Lions are coming off a 30-17 home loss to the NY Giants on 8-17-2018 to where they G-Men would cover as underdogs (+3) while the over was the play with the total being set at 40.5 points for the game. The Bucs, on the other hand, would run their preseason record to 2-0 as they would take care of the Tennessee Titans on the road by a 30-14 score on 8-18-2018 to where they would cash out on the spread (-3) while the over was the play with the total being set at 42 points. The headliner in this matchup will be Detroit’s middle of the road defense that is allowing 322 total yards per game (17th) and 23 point per outing (24th) handle a Bucs offense that enters this contest 2nd in the lead in total yard average per game in 414 while also putting up 28 ppg (4th). Certainly, with the Bucs D surrendering 367 total yards per game (28th) while allowing 19 ppg (14th) along with a Lions offense that has put up an average of 14 ppg (30th) along with ranking 27th in offense overall with 268 total yards per game during the preseason, one must think that one unit will indeed improve over the duration of this game.

Capped by a Chandler Catanzaro 48-yard field goal combined with a 21-yard strike from Ryan Griffin to Sergio Bailey to put the Bucs up by 16 in the final period, a one score game was now out of reach as the Bucs as they would go to 2-0 in the preseason by beating the Titans on the road 30-14. How Detroit Lions & Tampa Bay Buccaneers Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Bucs have certainly been a bit of a surprise in my opinion, as I certainly did not feel as if they would have this type of promising start to the season. It is for this reason that I feel as if they will certainly be afforded the chance to improve upon their game plan for the upcoming season against a Lions team that has been lifeless in the first couple weeks of the preseason. Though the Bucs will not lose their focus for this contest, I happen to believe that they will have yet another decent showing in week 3.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Tampa Bay Bucs
My reason for the pick :
The Lions are anemic on offense thus far and their resolve will certainly be tried frequently against this Bucs defense that had a much better showing last week than their week 1 matchup. In all, I will back the Bucs at home against a Lions team that has simply not looked well in both preseason games this year. Their offense is attempting to mix in some pieces here and there, yet, the defense really seems lost most of the time as they work in younger players that they feel may help their efforts during the season. In all, the Bucs should really play well in this contest as I can certainly see their defense becoming a huge catalyst in allowing the home team to get the lead and sustaining it throughout the game.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over
My reason for the prediction :
Detroit’s defense is atrocious, as stated. On the other hand, the Bucs possess several playmakers on the offensive end that have contributed to the offense thus far. It is for this reason that I expect both teams to give up some points to their opponents, however, the Bucs will gain more of an advantage in the point total because of their offensive improvement along with their defenses ability to make plays. Besides, they will look to pressure this Detroit offense into making mistakes early while cashing in on the other end. Expect the over to surpass the total for this game as it has done in 4 preseason games combined or these two squads.
