St. Louis Cardinals's Latest Performance :

The Cardinals are on a six-game road trip as they will take on the Rockies in a three-game set. The Cardinals arguably are the hottest team in the Majors right now they have taken over the NL Wild Card lead. They have won eight straight series and a Major league-leading 16 wins in August. The Cards have homered in 14 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the Majors. Coming into this series the Cardinals are sixth best in pitching with a 3.69 ERA and 13th in batting with 379 runs scored this season.

Player to watch in this series: Marcell Ozuna, he went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the Cardinals’ 5-2 win over the Dodgers on Tuesday. He’s hitting .275 with 16 homers and 69 RBI in 521 plate appearances this season. The Cardinals have turned up the heat at the right time. He should be a factor playing against the Rockies on the road.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Jose Martinez (72)
  • Homers: Matt Carpenter (34)
  • Batting Average: Jose Martinez (.308)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Miles Mikolas, he pitched sixth innings allowing only one run in a win against the Brewers on Saturday.  He has won five straight decisions and now sits at 13-3 with a 2.85 ERA across 25 starts. He will be looking for his sixth win against the Rockies on Friday.

Game 2: John Gant, he allowed two runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings in a loss against the Brewers on Sunday. He is 5-5 with a 3.76 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 66/33 K/BB ratio in 12 starts this season. He starts on Saturday at Coors Field.

Colorado Rockies's Latest Performance :

The Rockies will cap off their six-game homestand against the red-hot Cardinals. The Rockies are second in the NL West with a record of 68-57 they are a half-game behind for the last spot in the Wild Card Standings. The Rockies are coming off a series win over the Padres as they will now take on the Cardinals who have been playing really well as of late. Coming into this series the Rockies are 11th in batting with 585 runs scored this season and 23rd in pitching with a 4.58 ERA. The Rockies have to improve their pitching to compete against other elite teams in the Majors. Playing against the Cardinals will be their biggest test yet.

Player to watch in this series: DJ LeMahieu, he went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the Rockies’ 4-3 loss to the Padres on Tuesday. He plated the first Rockies run of the contest with an infield single in the third inning and came around to score on a two-out RBI double. He can be the help that Arenado needs as they make a push for the NL West division title. He’s hitting .276 (21-for-76) with 13 runs scored, three homers and seven RBI in 18 games since returning from the DL.

How St. Louis Cardinals & Colorado Rockies Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Rockies are 8-2 in their last 10 games on grass.

Cardinals are 10-1 in their last 11 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Against The Spread Selection: St. Louis Cardinals

My reason for the pick :

The Cardinals will win their ninth straight series against the Rockies on the road. They are firing on all cylinders and it will be very hard for anyone to stop them at this point. They were nine games behind the Cubs on July 26th and now the lead is trimmed down to 2 1/2 games. The Cardinals are putting on a run that no one expected. Carpenter will be going up against Arenado a batting matchup that you don’t want to miss. The Rockies pitching will continue to struggle against great teams in the Majors if they don’t resolve their pitching woes the Rockies might be looking at the playoffs from the outside looking in.

The Cardinals to beat the Rockies on the road 2-1.

Betting trends for St. Louis Cardinals:

  • Cardinals are 6-0 in their last 6 road games.

Betting trends for Colorado Rockies:

  • Rockies are 20-8 in their last 28 home games.
