Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Texas Rangers

Game 1 of a 2-game interleague set versus the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Texas Rangers will take place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, on Tuesday night at 8:05 pm EST.  The Dodgers have sputtered a bit lately and find themselves in the 3rd place slot within the NL West division while the Rangers continue to occupy last place within the tough AL West division.  In their last outing, the Rangers would be tied their current set versus the Giants on the road as they would suffer the 5-3 defeat on 8-25-2018 as they home team would cash in on the money line (-145) while the under was the play with total runs being set at 7.5 for the game.  Roughned Odor would go 3-4 with 3 RBI’s for the Rangers in the loss while Martin Perez (2-6) would pitch 5 innings while giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, 1 homer, and 4 k’s with an ERA of 6.95.  Andrew Suarez (5-9) would pick up the win as he would pitch 7 solid innings and allowing 3 hits and 5 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.42 for the game while Brandon Crawford would pace the Giants in going 1-3 with 3 RBI’s in the victory.  The loss halted a 2-game winning streak for the Rangers.

In their last outing, the Dodgers would cash in on the money line (-375) while the over was the play with total runs being set at 7.5 for the game in a 5-4 home win versus the san Diego Padres.  Brett Kennedy would get the ND as he would go 5 innings while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, 1 homer, and 5 k’s with an ERA of 7.58 for the game while Clayton Kershaw would also suffer the ND as he would pitch 8 innings while allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, 1 homer along with 9 strikeouts with a 2.39 ERA in the victory for the Dodgers.  Manny Machado would go 2-3 with 3 RBI’s for the Dodgers while Austin Hedges and Freddy Galvis would each have 2 hits for the padres along with an RBI apiece.  The win was the 2nd straight for the Dodgers.

Los Angeles Dodgers's Latest Performance :

The Dodgers come into this matchup losers of 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 1-4.  Recently, after losing a 4-game road set versus the Seattle Mariners on 8-19-2018 while being swept in a 3-game home set versus the red-hot St. Louis cardinals on 8-22-2018.  They would go on to dominate the San Diego Padres thus far in a 3-game home set with the finale being on 8-26-2018.

Yasmani Grandal (.248 BA on 339 AB) and Cody Bellinger (.257 BA on 432 AB) have been the leaders offensively for the Dodgers this season.  Chris Taylor (.248 BA on 440 AB) has also been pivotal to the Dodger’s offensive attack.  Matt Kemp (.285 BA on 376 AB) and Manny Machado (.280 BA on 107 AB) have also been huge sparks for the Dodgers offense.

Alex Wood (7-6) has pitched 128.1 innings while allowing 57 runs on 117 hits, 12 homers, 31 walks, and 113 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.51 has also resurrected his overall performance lately for Los Angeles.

Texas Rangers 's Latest Performance :

The Texas Rangers have lost 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 2-3.  Recently, after winning a 4-game home set versus the Los Angeles Angels on 8-19-2018, the Rangers would go on to lose a 3-gaem road set versus the Oakland A’s on 8-22-2018.

Nomar Mazara (.272 BA on 360 AB) has been the most effective offensive star thus far for the Rangers.  On the other hand, Shin-Soo Choo (.281 BA on 449 AB) and Joey Gallo (.203 BA on 403 AB) have also been solid all-season long.

Bartolo Colon (7-11) has also pitched 135.1 innings while allowing 80 runs on 148 hits, 26 homers, 23 walks, and 75 strikeouts with an ERA of 5.19.  Mike Minor (9-6) has also pitched 123 innings while allowing 66 runs on 116 hits, 20 homers, 27 walks, and 100 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.61.

How Los Angeles Dodgers & Texas Rangers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

For the season, the Dodgers are 61-61 ATS while the O/U is 55-59-8.  On the other hand, the Rangers are 65-59 ATS while the O/U is 59-56-5.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Rangers have won 4 of their last 7 games while winning 4 of their last 6 home games overall.  Their offense has pumped in only 15 runs in their last 5 games while the pitching staff has surrendered 30 runs during this time.  The Dodgers have also gone through a rough patch lately in dropping 8 of their last 10 outings. During this time, the offense has averaged 4.8 runs per game (thanks in large part to a road series versus the Mariners to where the Dodgers would score a total of 27 runs during a 3-game set) while their pitching staff ahs allowed an average of 3.9 runs per game to their opponents.  In all, this series will entail two struggling teams looking to gain more confidence at the plate while also improving upon apparent inconsistencies at the plate in which to string together some wins.

Totals Selection: Pick: Games 1 & 2: Under

My reason for the prediction :

The under has been the play in 4 of the last 6 for the Rangers while being the result in 4 of the last 7 games for the Dodgers.  In addition to this, both teams are simply dismal from the plate recently while their pitching has not been much better.  Nonetheless, I expect for both pitching staffs to shine against offenses that simply cannot find their swing recently.  It is for this reason that I will back the under for this series as it seems as if the Rangers, for the most part, have called things in for 2018, while the Dodgers seem to be going through some internal issues at this time which prevents them from focusing at the plate.

Betting trends for Los Angeles Dodgers:

    • The Dodgers are 3-9 in last 12 games
    • The Dodgers are 3-5 in last 8 road games
    • The Under is 8-4 in Dodgers last 12 road games

Betting trends for Texas Rangers :

    • The Rangers are 11-9 in last 20 games
    • The Rangers are 6-2 in last 8 home games
    • The Over is 7-5-1 in Rangers last 13 home games
