Colorado Rockies vs San Francisco Giants
The Giants will welcome back the Rockies to AT&T Park for game 2 as the two teams from the NL West division will continue their three-game series. The Rockies are eyeing their first division title in franchise history while the Giants out of playoffs contention as they prepare themselves for next season. Game two starts at 9:05 PM ET. This will be their last meeting of the season.
Colorado Rockies 's Latest Performance :
The Rockies are eyeing their first-ever division title. The Rockies have a 1 1/2 game lead over the Dodgers. They are coming off yet another comeback win this season, it was number 43 against the D-Backs. The team confidence is at an all-time high from the batters all the way down to the team’s bullpen. If the Rockies want to make the postseason as the NL West division champs they will have to do it collectively. The Rockies got a tough schedule coming up so it helps that they are able to play the Giants on the road where they are 40-32 this season.
Nolan Arenado will have to carry this Rockies team on his back, he homered and doubled twice against the Diamondbacks. He has four doubles the last two days, bringing his season total to 33. The Rockies will look to Nolan for the offense to set up a closeout game on Sunday. He is slashing .300/.382/.563 with 33 homers and 99 RBIs. He is arguably the front-runner for NL MVP this season.
Probable Pitcher: German Marquez, he allowed only two runs against the D-Backs in his last start while striking out 11 batters. He will play a vital role in the Rockies playoffs chances. He’s now struck out 10-plus hitters in three straight starts with a total of 35 in that time frame. He’s also seen his ERA drop from 4.51 to 3.94 since August 14, and his K/BB improves to 195/53 in 171 1/3 innings. He will look to duplicate his performance against the Giants Saturday.
San Francisco Giants's Latest Performance :
The Giants are on a franchise high 11 game losing streak. The Giants will likely finish the season 4th in the NL West. The Giants made it clear that this season was over when they traded away Andrew McCutchen to the Yankees. Playing against the Rockies will be challenging for them since they lost to them in a two-game series earlier this month. The Giants are 26th in batting with 559 runs scored this season and 13th in pitching with a 3.86 ERA. This will be a great chance for the Giants to develop talents as they prepare themselves for next season.
The Giants will need to play well as a team in order to dig themselves out of this massive slump they are facing, they looked like real contenders at the start of the season and everything went down south after the trade deadline after they failed to improve their them and couldn’t stay within arm length of the NL West playoff race. The only good thing to come out of this is they were able to get rid of Andrew McCutchen expensive contract.
Probable Pitcher: Madison Bumgarner, he allowed five earned runs over six innings Sunday in a loss to the Brewers. He is 5-6 on the season with a 3.30 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. He starts on Saturday for the Giants against the Rockies at home.

Against The Spread Selection: Colorado Rockies
My reason for the pick :
With Marquez on the mound, the Rockies will breeze through the Giants in game 2 protecting their position on top of the NL West division. It is hard to beat the Rockies when both pitchers and batters are playing their best baseball. Nolan will have another great game as he will look to close out the regular season on a high note after struggling to hit the ball .130 over 46 at-bats. The Giants losing streak will continue to 13 as the Rockies will look to sweep the Giants on Sunday.
