Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Washington Nationals vs Atlanta Braves
The rubber game between the Braves and the Nationals will start at 1:35 PM ET. The Braves are on top of the NL East division while the Nationals are making a late push to sneak into the playoffs as a wildcard.
Washington Nationals's Latest Performance :
The Nationals still believe that they can make a push for the postseason they are seven games behind the Cardinals for the last Wild Card spot. The Nationals are 37-36 when playing on the road this season. A victory against the Braves in the rubber game would keep their playoffs hopes alive. In order for the Nationals to make the postseason, they must fix the errors and take advantage when runners are in scoring position. If the Nationals fail to make the postseason the teams future looks extremely bright Juan Soto extended his on-base streak to 18 games and pairing him up with Robles who made his first career from the leadoff spot finished the game 1 for 3 with a sac fly and a stolen base. Soto and Robles playing together would be something special.
Probable Pitcher: Tanner Roark, he allowed five runs on 10 hits over just 4 2/3 frames Tuesday, taking a no-decision in the Nationals’ 7-6 extra-innings win over the Phillies. He is 8-15 on the year with a 4.37 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. He will look to bounce back against the Braves on Sunday.
Atlanta Braves's Latest Performance :
The Braves are on pace to finish the regular season as NL East division champions. The Braves have exceeded everyone expectation they were supposed to be in rebuilding mode but they have found a winning formula that worked. Freddie Freeman is playing like an MVP while the focal point of the team this season has to be Ronald Acuna Jr. the 20-year old that turned into a star this season. He leads the team with 25 homers and is slashing .290/.368/.575 with 14 steals. He has transformed this Braves franchise into an elite baseball team. Everything seems to be clicking for the Braves at the moment, the only concern for me is that will the Braves be able to carry over the fire they had in the regular season into the playoffs. The Braves are six games ahead of the Phillies, a team who were supposed to make the playoffs but came up just short.
Probable Pitcher: Sean Newcomb, he allowed just one run over six innings while striking out eight in a 4-1 win over the Giants on Monday. He’ll take a 3.82 ERA and 1.31 WHIP into his next start against the Nationals in the rubber game on Sunday.
How Washington Nationals & Atlanta Braves Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Braves are 36-16 in their last 52 vs. National League East.
Nationals are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. National League East.
Against The Spread Selection: Atlanta Braves
My reason for the pick :
The Braves offense will get the job done at home over the Nationals. The Braves have the momentum and they have not shown signs of slowing down anytime time soon. Acuna will have a great game at home giving us a preview of what he can do when the playoffs come around. For the Nationals, their team future looks really bright but unfortunately, their playoffs hopes are starting to look really slim. The Nationals plans for the future will have to trade Harper and make Soto their go-to guy for next season and build a team similar to the Braves who has had great success this season.
