Seattle Mariners's Latest Performance :
The Mariners are currently on a ten game road trip as they will take on the division leader the Astros they are 40-33 when playing on the road this season. The Mariners are no stranger to the Astros since it is their 7th meeting of the season. The Mariners are coming off an impressive series victory over division rivals Angels. The Mariners are 18th in pitching with a 4.11 ERA and 24th in batting with 603 runs scored this season. The Mariners are taking it game by game at this point of the season after struggling in the second half of the season. The Mariners bullpen is one of the best in the Major and could catch the Astros by surprise when they play each other this time around. Robinson Cano will look to end the season strong since his return he is .278 (30-for-108) with 13 runs scored, four homers and 12 RBI in 26 games since returning from suspension in mid-August.
Probable Pitcher: Wade LeBlanc, he gave up five runs through five innings of work in his last start against the Padres. He struck out two and walked one in the losing effort. He falls to 8-4 on the season with a 3.56 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 24 starts.
Houston Astros's Latest Performance :
The Astros are currently on a nine-game homestand, they are 40-33 when playing at home this season. The Astros are coming off a series win against the D-Backs. The Astros are trying to end the season as back to back division champions. The Astros are 4th best in batting with 724 runs scored this season and the best team in pitching with a 3.11 ERA. Playing against the Mariners would allow them to extend the lead on top of the division because they hold a 3-1 season series lead over the Mariners. It is likely that the Astros are going to make the postseason but the A’s are closing the gap and could take over at any point. All the Astros need to do is protect home court and they will be fine heading into the postseason.
Probable Pitcher: Framber Valdez, he allowed four runs in four innings pitched for the Astros in his last start. He will have to do a better job against the Mariners on Monday. He is 3-1 on the year through five starts with a 2.66 ERA and 1.27 WHIP.
How Seattle Mariners & Houston Astros Matchup.

Astros are 6-3 in their last 9 vs. a team with a winning record.
Mariners are 7-19 in their last 26 games following a win.
Against The Spread Selection: Houston Astros
My reason for the pick :
The Astros have been playing well against the Mariners all season long and I don’t see that trend changing anytime soon. The Astros offense will come alive against the Mariners pitchers as I expect them to open the series with a statement game. Alex Bregman will put up a masterful batting performance against the division rivals right from the getgo. The Astros will be focused when they play the Mariners because they can’t afford to lose the top spot to the A’s and will have to play the Yankees in the first round.
The Astros to take care of business at home and take the series opener over the Mariners.
