Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Colorado Rockies vs Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers will welcome the Rockies to Miller Park as both teams will be playing in a best of five matchups in the NLDS starting on Thursday. The Brewers beat the Cubs in the 163rd game to clinch home field throughout the NL playoffs while the Rockies were able to create the biggest upset yet as they took down the Cubs on the road in the Wild Card game which went on for 13 innings. The Brewers won both regular-season series against the Rockies, taking three of four at Coors Field.
Colorado Rockies's Latest Performance :
The Rockies confidence level is at an all-time high as they took down the Cubs in Wrigley Field. The Rockies won eight straight games for a reason and they seem to be unfazed by playing on the road as they were 44-38 on the road this season. The bullpen did a great job keeping the Cubs batters stranded in scoring position that shows you how strong the Rockies bullpen are when playing under pressure. The Rockies believe they can take on anyone at the moment.
Batter to watch in this series: Nolan Arenado, he will be the catalyst of the Rockies offense, if he starts the game well for the Rockies runs usually come pouring in. He will have a great batting matchup because he will be going up against Yelich as both batters are eyeing NL MVP. When it comes to the postseason it sometimes makes the right play settle for a base hit rather than going yards if the game is close. It all comes down to baseball IQ in the playoffs.
Pitcher to watch in this series: Scott Oberg, he struck out all four batters he faced to close out Tuesday night’s NL Wild Card Game victory over the Cubs. He delivering a steady 2.45 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 57/12 K/BB ratio in 58 2/3 innings. He struck out Javier Baez, and Albert Almora in the bottom of the 13th to seal the game for the Rockies, he will play a huge role for the Rockies against the Brewers in the NLDS.
Milwaukee Brewers's Latest Performance :
The Brewers clinched home field advantage throughout the NL division after beating the Cubs on the road. Unfortunately, they won’t be having a rematch against the Cubs because the Rockies were able to pull off the upset. Coming into this series the Brewers are 12th in batting with 754 runs scored this season and 5th in pitching with a 3.73 ERA. The Brewers are 51-30 when playing at home this season so they will benefit from playing at home. The Brewers ranked 11th with a 3.92 starters’ ERA during the regular season by limiting opponents exposure a third time through the lineup.
Batter to watch in this series: Christian Yelich, despite failing to win the triple crown he bagged the NL batting title at .326 while finishing second in homers (36) and second in RBI (110). He is the frontrunner to win NL MVP this season since Baez is out of the postseason. He has been hot on the plate all season slashing .324/.400/.599 and 17 RBI over his last eight games so it won’t be a surprise if we see a batting duel between Arenado and Yelich in the NLDS.
Pitcher to watch in this series: Jhoulys Chacin, he held the Cubs to one run over 5 2/3 innings in Monday’s NL Central tiebreaker game in his last time on the mound. He hopes to keep his impressive pitches up as he will play a major role in the NLDS for the Brewers. He has a 3.50 ERA and 1.16 WHIP.

My reason for the pick :
The Rockies to create another upset as they will take down the Brewers 3-2 in the best of five, the Rockies are learning how to close out games as their bullpen will keep getting stronger and stronger as the postseason progresses.
