Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Los Angeles Dodgers vs Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox will welcome the Dodgers to Fenway Park as the two teams will be facing off in the World Series. It will be the first time ever that these two teams will be meeting in the World Series. The Red Sox were able to beat the Astros in five games winning three straight games on the road while the Dodgers beat the Brewers in seven. Game one starts at 8:09 PM ET.
Los Angeles Dodgers's Latest Performance :
The Dodgers are going to back-to-back World Series for the first time since 1977-78. The Dodgers are known for their home runs as they hit 13 homers already this postseason. The Dodgers found a way past the Brewers by beating them on the road this tells you it doesn’t matter where the Dodgers are they are still going to get hits. The Dodgers traded for a superstar Manny Machado, who hit .297 with 37 home runs and a .905 OPS. Clutch hitters like NLCS MVP Cody Bellinger who had a walk-off hit in game 4 and a go-ahead homer in game 7. Justin Turner is hitting .310 in the postseason and Yasiel Puig who came through in game 7, not a bad player to round out their batting rotation. Although their numbers aren’t great on paper they are winners, they hit to win and choose to swing on pitches that they like. In the pitching department, the Dodgers have rookie starter Walker Buehler who is having a terrific postseason and their bullpen has been great as well they have a 1.45 ERA in the NLCS with Jansen leading the charge. The Dodgers outfielder doesn’t get enough credit as they were fantastic in the last series catching fly balls left and right we should see a similar effort against the Red Sox.
Player to watch: Manny Machado, when he was traded from the Orioles his task was to bring the Dodgers back to the World Series and win it all. He has the opportunity to do just that although his numbers aren’t that great time after time in the postseason he has come through for the Dodgers in the postseason. He said in one interview, that he is not going to change how he plays. If there is one mistake made by the Red Sox pitcher he will be looking exploit them every opportunity he gets.
Pitcher to watch: Clayton Kershaw, he will have another opportunity to compete for the World Series. He is set to start in Game 1 against the Red Sox in Boston he will be going up against Chris Sale. In his last start against the Brewers, he struck out nine batters and allowed just one run.
Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :
The Red Sox were able to get their redemption by beating the Astros in five games winning three straight road games at Minute Maid. The Red Sox are back in the World Series since 2013, they are best batting team in the postseason with 56 runs scored. The Red Sox are aware that the Dodgers will be playing with a chip on their shoulder after they were only one win away from the title. Boston was the best team in the regular season with 108 wins. The Red Sox have one of the most potent batting lineups this season with JD Martinez leading the charge followed by Mookie Betts who won the AL batting title by hitting .346 lead the league in slugging at .640 and had 30 stolen bases. The ALCS MVP Jackie Bradley Jr. will look to make his mark in the biggest stage of baseball he ended the ALCS with 9 RBIs against the Astros. The Red Sox will have to rely on their starters to pitch deep into the innings they can’t afford to turn to the bullpen early into the games. Boston Closer Craig Kimbrel will have to bring his A-game to the World Series because he can’t afford to blow leads against the Dodgers if the Dodgers sees an opening they will likely turn them into runs.
Batter to watch: J.D. Martinez, in game 5 he started to heat up from the plate as he went 2-for-3 with a solo homer. He’ll be the designated hitter for the Red Sox in Game 1 and 2 of the World Series, and then likely start in the outfield when the series transitions to the National League. He chased the AL Triple Crown and finished with a .330 batting average to go along with 43 homers and 130 RBIs. Alex Cora will ensure that his superstar batter will play in every game of the World Series.
Pitcher to watch: Chris Sale, he has now recovered from his stomach ailment and will start in Game one of the World Series going up against Kershaw. He went 12-4 with a 2.11 ERA in 27 starts in the regular season. He is 1-0 with a 3.48 ERA in two starts and one relief appearance in the playoffs.

Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Dodgers
My reason for the pick :
The Dodgers will defeat the Red Sox at Fenway Park in game 7. The Dodgers and Red Sox games will go down to the wire. I expect Manny Machado to walk away with the World Series MVP trophy beating out JD Martinez. Machado will prove to everyone that he is a clutch performer and shows up at the biggest stage. This series will go the distance as the Dodgers bullpen will be the difference maker. Once the Red Sox turn to their bullpen I expect the Dodgers batter to take advantage and score every chance they get. After a great batting season, the Red Sox batters will be stopped by the Dodgers pitchers Walker Buehler will have himself a great series. The Red Sox have Martinez, Mookie, and Bradley to score while the Dodgers have a batting lineup that has been preparing for this opportunity since last year and they won’t let this opportunity slip out of their hands this time around.
The Dodgers to win the World Series beating out the Red Sox in game 7 at Fenway Park.
