Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Toronto Raptors vs Washington Wizards
The 8th seeded Washington Wizards are happy to return to D.C as they have had a rough go around in their last 2 games in Toronto. Washington will need to win 4 out of the next 5 possible games to advance to the 2nd round for the 4th time in the last 5 years.
Toronto Raptors 's Latest Performance :
DeRozan Steps Up
The Toronto Raptors have the ability to win with their starting backcourt in Kyle Lowry and Demar DeRozan but if those guys aren’t on they can go to their bench mob that has guys like Delon Wright, C.J. Miles, and Fred VanVleet. The Raptors in their latest game on 4/17 let DeRozan do his thing as he dropped 37 points in 37 minutes of play as he was doing everything from taking the ball to the hoop or stepping back to the 3 point line and hitting shots. DeRozan and Lowry are a great duo as they compliment each other nicely and although Lowry only dropped 13 points in their latest win he was also able to contribute 12 assists in an 11 point win which shows they don’t need the duo to combine for 60 points in order to win. The difference for the Raptors in this last matchup was the production from their center in Jonas Valanciunas as he gave the Raps 19 points and 14 rebound. When the Raptors can get Jonas and Ibaka going down low it not only opens up Lowry and DeRozan from behind the arc but stretches the floor out for the big men as both parties are capable of scoring from deep. The Raptors have been dominating in the early going and they have only had their best player off of the bench in VanVleet play all of 3 minutes as he is still nursing an injury which is satisfying for the Raptors as this team still has another gear in them when he comes back to the lineup fulltime.
Washington Wizards's Latest Performance :
Need To Play Perfect Basketball
The Washington Wizards have a good backcourt just like the Raptors but what has gone wrong the first 2 games? The Washington Wizards have lost the first 2 games by a combined 19 points as they have been content to try and outscore the Raptors in a scoring battle rather than playing any defense. When you are an 8th seed chances are if you want a chance at beating the 1 seed the best thing you can do is try to lock down on the defensive end but the Wizards believe that they have the scoring power to do it their way. In the Wizards most recent lost on 4/17, the Wizards lost 130-119 and might have won this game if Bradley Beal gave the team more production as he was only able to drop 9 points in the 25 minutes he played. Like I said last game the Wizards need their bench to step up in a big way as they are going against the best bench in the NBA in the Raptors and in a 4/17 matchup the Wizards received more production from these guys. Mike Scott and Ty Lawson both went on an absolute tear off the bench as Scott gave the Wizards 20 points and Lawson gave the Wiz 14. The Wizards need to step it up on the defensive end and get consistent production from both John Wall and Bradley Beal if they want a shot at winning

Against The Spread Selection: Toronto Raptors*
My reason for the pick :
An 8 seed usually has a chance at stealing games when they head home but the Wizards have not been good at home especially ATS. The Raptors have shown that they don’t need to be hitting on all cylinders as they have been all over the place in the early part of the playoffs and have still won comfortably. Raptors are on a mission to get to the NBA championship this year and they won’t let Washington stop them.
