Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Toronto Raptors vs Washington Wizards

The 8 seed Washington Wizards return home for game 6 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals where they will host the top seed of the East in the Toronto Raptors. The Wizards and Raptors both made it out of the first round in 2017, but both teams lost in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Toronto Raptors 's Latest Performance :

Scoring Throughout

The Toronto Raptors have of course had success this year due to their backcourt in DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry being more experienced, but the difference in 2018 had been the bench play for the Raptors as they have guys throughout their rotation who can easily start on other teams. DeRozan has been great this postseason as he leads the Raptors in points with 28 PPG, and his running mate in Kyle Lowry has done enough to win as he has taken a back seat in the scoring department (15.5 PPG) and has contributed more by sharing the ball as he leads the team in assists with 8.5. The Raptors currently have 6 guys averaging in double-digits this postseason 2 of which come off the bench in C.J. Miles (10.3 PPG) and Delon Wright (10.5 PPG). Wright and Miles have taken on a bigger role this postseason due to the injury of the main bench scorer in Fred VanVleet who has been out with an injury all postseason. The Raptors want VanVleet to come back sooner rather than later as VanVleet was so good off the bench that he played big minutes for the Raps with the starters when the games were close. The Raptors have found themselves in a longer series than they hoped for as they will have to face either LeBron James or the feisty Pacers in the next round which aren’t favorable matchups for a tired Raptor team.

Washington Wizards's Latest Performance :

John Wall On Another Level

The Washington Wizards were able to win games without John Wall in the lineup as he missed a long stretch of games due to injury, but with John Wall back in the lineup, the Wizards have shown how much better they truly are with their point guard. John Wall has been must-watch TV in the playoffs as he has done everything from score in significant ways to making flashy passes lining up assists. John Wall leads the team in PPG and APG through the first few games as he has averaged 26.8 PPG and 13 APG, and he isn’t only making an impact on the offensive end but the defensive end as well as he averages 3 steal a game. John Wall has shown that he doesn’t need his counterpart in the game to win as he was able to single handily beat the Raptors in game 4 when Beal fouled out with 5 minutes left in the game. Of course, the Wizards would opt to have Bradley Beal in the lineup as he is also averaging over 20 points this postseason as he currently has 21.8 PPG, and have shown us the chemistry that we missed between the backcourt duo. The Wizards have also gotten a great effort from Mike Scott off the bench as Scott is the third leading scorer on the team as he comes into this game with 12.5 PPG which is much needed in a series where the other team thrives in bench play.

Against The Spread Selection: Toronto Raptors*

My reason for the pick :

Toronto hasn’t lived up to playoff expectations as we thought they would have had an easy 4 game sweep and given the Raptors past postseason flaws I think they will make sure they wrap this season up with a championship rather than a first-round exit. DeRozan and Lowry have been together for a long time and they have had the teams to make it far, and this year might be their best one yet. Toronto steals game 6 in Washington.
