The 2 seed Boston Celtics return to TD Garden for a 8:30 opening tip in game 2 of the Eastern Confernece Semifinals as they will host the 3 seed Philadelphia 76ers. Boston steamrolled Philadelphia in the first game as the Celtics won 117-101 on 4/30.
Philadelphia 76ers's Latest Performance :
Three-Point Shooting Goes Dead
Las Vegas came out with new playoff odds the morning of 4/30 which had the Philadelphia 76ers as the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, but by night the Sixers looked like they didn’t even belong in the Eastern Conference Semifinals as they never found themselves in a ball game with the Celtics. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons have been the two leaders of this team, and the duo did their part in game 1 as Embiid had 31 points and 13 rebounds and Simmons had 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. The problem for the 76ers was finding a scorer outside of the young duo as well as the three-point shooting as a team as the 76ers shot only 19.2% from behind the arc. Robert Covington, Ersan Ilyasova, and J.J. Redick are three of the best three-point shooters on the team but the trio was only able to connect on 2 out of the 14 shots taken. Robert Covington has been really good for the 76ers all year as he averaged 12.6 PPG, but Covington went blank in the first game as he was only able to score 3 points which all came from the foul line. The 76ers were able to win 16 straight games in the regular season without Joel Embiid because everyone stepped up and scored for the Sixers, and if they want to win games they are going to have to receive better efforts from everyone on the team.
Boston Celtics's Latest Performance :
New Big 3
The Boston Celtics had to play without one of their young talents in Jaylen Brown as he sat out game 1 with a hamstring injury which caused us to speculate that the Celtics were going to get destroyed by the red-hot Sixers. As we learned that was not the case as the Celtics didn’t miss a beat and went on to beat the 76ers by 16 in a lopsided affair. The Celtics were led all game by Terry Rozier, Jayson Tatum, and Al Horford as the trio combined for 83 of the 117 points the Celtics scored which calculates to be 71% of the C’s offense. Boston has not been known as a scoring juggernaut this season but being in TD Garden boosted their scoring abilities as the Celtics were able to shoot 48.6% from three-point land. Terry Rozier or better known as Scary Terry provided the Celtics with the three-point shooting this team has missed as the 2nd-year point guard went 7 for 9 from three. The Celtics were also able to survive this game without very much offense from two of their best bench options as Marcus Smart and Marcus Morris went a combined 8 for 24 from the field. The questions start arising as people wonder how good this team could have been with Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, but what about when they get Jaylen Brown back who is averaging 17.9 PPG in the playoffs.

Against The Spread Selection: Philadelphia 76ers*
My reason for the pick :
The Philadelphia 76ers are much better than what they showed us in game 1 and I think this young team will have a chip on their shoulder to come out and show the world that’s not how they want to remembered. The Celtics were able to put up 117 points which is unusual for a team that was missing 3 of their top scorers, and I don’t think they can repeat that performance again. The 76ers will pay more attention on the defensive end in this game as they know they can’t give up 117 points and expect to win. Philly splits the series at 1-1.
