Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Houston Rockets vs Utah Jazz
With the Rockets leading the series 2-1 and hoping to steal another game on the road the Jazz will have to come out firing on all cylinders as they can’t afford to lose yet another home game.
Houston Rockets's Latest Performance :
After the game 2 loss, the Rockets made adjustments came out and made a statement going up by 30 at halftime, they showed that the Jazz was no match for them tonight they were on another level showing us why they have the best record in the NBA. James Harden, Chris Paul, and Eric Gordon combined for 65 points, 18 assists, 13 rebounds, 4 steals and 6 three-pointers. They shot a combined 46.8% from the field.
It didn’t really take me by surprised the way they played in game 3 because they have been playing this way since the start of the season, game 2 was just a bad shooting night. The ball movements to find shooters in game 3 was superb. Rockets had 10 assists in the first quarter. Jazz had 8 made field goals total. Total domination. The Rockets were able to contain Ingles after the game 2 breakout he had only 10 points tonight.
Eric Gordon had himself a night as he scored 25 points he shot 61.5% from the floor reminding us why he is so important to this Rocket team as they make a push for a deep playoff run. The Rockets did not play a perfect game but they did enough to win back homecourt advantage. After picking up the win the Rockets will look to win back to back road games for an opportunity to close things out at home in game 5.
Player to watch: James Harden, he is showing us why he is the MVP of the league. He did a very good job tonight when Exum guarded him hitting shots after shots and attacking the paint with ease look for him to put up another stellar performance in game 4.
Utah Jazz's Latest Performance :
After an impressive game 2, the Jazz got hammered by the Rockets in game 3 at home. The Jazz was outclassed by the Rockets shooting only 41 percent in the blowout loss. Donovan Mitchell still wasn’t able to find his groove returning home he had only 10 points and 3 assists. This is by far Mitchell worst game in the postseason this year. The only bright spot in game 2 for the Jazz is Royce O’Neale he had 17 points but the Rockets are letting him have his shots while containing all the other players on the court.
Joe Ingles who had a terrific game 2 couldn’t find his shooting touch tonight as he went 2 for 10 from the floor in order for the Jazz to make this a competitive series Joe needs to shoot well every game from here on out. After the game 2 performance, you could see the Rockets defense tendency in game 3 not allowing Ingles to have an open look as a result of the Rockets defense Ingles only had 10 points.
Rudy Gobert had only 12 points and 9 rebounds. The thing about Gobert is that he is a one-dimensional player and plays only on one end of the court that is defense, it is rare that you see Gobert call for the ball in the post as he has to be more alert in the paint stop Harden scoring in the paint with ease.
In game 3 you could really see that the Jazz miss Ricky Rubio presence on the floor. When Rubio is playing he takes the pressure off Mitchell as the two backcourts will share the ball-handling duties, Rubio also helps the Jazz spread the floor as he has become a much better shooter over the past few years. Right now the Jazz are too predictable because every offensive set drawn up by the coach have to go through Mitchell. All the Rockets will need to do is contain Mitchell and they will win the game.
Player to Watch: Donovan Mitchell, game 4 has to be the game where he shows up and have a great shooting night, the mindset for Mitchell in game 4 is to be as aggressive as he can be forcing the Rockets to send a double to guard him as this will make the shooters open in the corner waiting to shoot the 3 ball.
How Houston Rockets & Utah Jazz Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Jazz are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Conference Semifinals games.
Rockets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
Against The Spread Selection: Houston Rockets
My reason for the pick :
The Houston Rockets will prove to be too much for the Jazz as they will take game 4 on the road as they head back to Houston for a potential closeout game in Houston.
Not all is lost for the Jazz because no one expected them to come this far everyone doubted them in the Thunder series and here they are playing in the conference semis with a rookie leading the charge. In order to win in this league, you have to have star power in your starting line up after Rubio was ruled out I knew the series was over, despite the surprising game 2 you can’t expect a great team like Houston to have a bad game twice there is too much at stake. Mitchell has done a terrific job as a rookie but he is going up against proven players that have suffered years of losses in the league and now it is their time to shine. Donovan has to wait for his turn.
Betting trends for Houston Rockets:

Betting trends for Utah Jazz:
- Jazz are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a double-digit loss at home.
