Golden State Warriors's Latest Performance :
Silent 4th Q
The Golden State Warriors started off game 4 with their hair on fire as they jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first 5 minutes of the game as they were shutting down the high powered Houston Rockets offense. The Warriors were led by their typical superstars of Kevin Durant and Steph Curry who dropped 55 points and grabbed another 18 rebounds. Steph Curry caught fire in the third quarter (17 points) which is usually one of the most pivotal quarters in basketball as the team who wins those 12 minutes should have the momentum rolling. The Warriors went absolutely dead in the 4th quarter of game 4 as they were only able to score 12 points compared to the Rockets 25 points. On paper, the Warriors should have walked away with a 3-1 series lead as they outshot, outrebounded, and won the turnover battle with the Houston Rockets but barring their 4th quarter performance they walked away with an L. Steve Kerr was forced to dig deep into his bench as the subtraction of Andre Iguodala (injury) caused the Warriors to miss the 5th piece to go along with the other 4 superstars. The 5 other guys who filled in for the absence of Andre Iguodala compiled of Quinn Cook, Kevin Looney, Nick Young, Shaun Livingston, and Jordan Bell but these role players were not fit for the par as they were only able to combine for 16 of the 92 Warriors points. The Warriors want to also receive a tad bit more out of Klay Thompson as the sharpshooter was not able to have a typical high scoring affair as the SG only dropped 10 points behind a 4 for 13 game.
Houston Rockets's Latest Performance :
Backcourt Leads The Way
The Houston Rockets weren’t crowned the best team after the regular season for no apparent reason as we have seen how good this team really is especially when their all-star guards of James Harden and Chris Paul are hitting on all cylinders. Mike D’Antoni went a different route than his usual strategy as he knew that game 4 was pivotal in terms of winning the series. D’Antoni asked a lot more out of his starters as he shortened the rotation down to 7 guys as the only guy to see time off the bench than 6th-man of the year Eric Gordon was veteran Gerald Green. This rotation may be ideal other than wearing out the legs of the starters because they are keeping the momentum rolling which is huge especially on the road. Gerald Green may not have been a force off the bench in terms of scoring as he only dropped 3 points but he had the best plus/minus in the game with a +14 which shows he wasn’t only keeping the offense rolling but amping up the defense. The backcourt duo of Chris Paul and James Harden made sure that their 65 win doesn’t go to waste in a Western Conference Finals loss as the two guards combined for 57 of the 97 points. James Harden led the Rockets in points as the MVP frontrunner dropped 30 points behind an 11-26 game from the field. Perhaps one of the most pivotal guys in terms of securing a win was veteran P.J. Tucker who was an absolute force on the board with 16 rebounds.

Against The Spread Selection: Houston Rockets -1
My reason for the pick :
The Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors have been trading wins with losses all series long but the Rockets may be in one of the best positions that either of these teams have been in all series long as the Rockets have momentum heading back to their home arena. Houston showed the ability to win behind their backcourt which is what they truly want as the Rockets success is dependant on Chris Paul and James Harden. Golden State has been one of the best NBA teams over the last 4 years but this 2018 team is a lot different than years past as this team seems to lack effort game in and game out. The Rockets are hungry to make it to the NBA finals as everyone knows whoever wins the WCF has a 90% chance of winning the finals which is just what James Harden wants to add another accolade to his great career.
