Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors
Game 2 of the NBA Finals will resume on Sunday as the Warriors will welcome back the Cavaliers to Oracle Arena. The Warriors are looking to take care homecourt and try to go up 2-0 while the Cavs will try to spoil the party and steal one on the road.
Cleveland Cavaliers's Latest Performance :
The Cavs were inches away from stealing homecourt from the Warriors in game 1, they will have to all they can to avoid going down 2-0 heading back home. The Cavs showed us in game 1 that they can compete against this Warriors team. LeBron dropped 51 points with 8 rebounds and 8 assists in the game 1 loss. LeBron James is the only player in NBA history to score or assist on 70 points in a Finals game and lose. No matter who is guarding James he still finds a way to score at will. Kevin Love dropped 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds he definitely has to score more for the Cavs to win game 2 on the road. Kyle Korver must play better in game 2 as he only had 3 points in game 1.
The Cavs must feel exhausted from game one after they came up short in overtime, they must play a perfect game in game 2 to keep the game competitive, the Cavs don’t expect LeBron to drop 51 again so the role players will need to step up. LeBron played 47 minutes in game 1 as his body has been taking a beating ever since the postseason has started carrying this Cavs team on his back. For the Cavs to beat the Warriors at home they will have to find ways to wear down Curry because he is the player who loves to take big shots for the Warriors and usually when Curry hits a shot they normally go on a run.
Player to Watch: Kyle Korver, he is the X-factor in this series Korver will have to play well every game for the Cavs as the Cavs will have to beat the Warriors at their own game. Ty Lue must run plays for him allowing him to move without the ball curl off ball screens and shoot the ball from deep.
Golden State Warriors's Latest Performance :
The Warriors were able to take care of business at home winning game 1 in overtime, they were a bit fortunate at the end of regulation when JR Smith got the offensive rebound off of Hill free throw miss and failed to make a play. From game 1 the Warriors have learned that winning the Championship this time around won’t be easy because the Cavs are giving everything they got. Stephen Curry dropped 29 points dishing out 9 assists, he is playing with much more freedom because he doesn’t have to be matched up with Kyrie anymore. Kevin Durant chipped in with 26 points although he wasn’t shooting well from the floor he is still a threat on the floor because once his shots start to drop it will be very hard for the Cavs to contain him. Klay Thompson had 24 on the night. The Warriors were solid shooting the ball as they connected on 51.1 percent of their attempts from the floor, including 13 of 36 from three-point range.
The Cavs are a much easier matchup for the Warriors if you compare them to the Rockets. It is only LeBron doing the all the scoring if you are able to shut him down you will have a good chance of winning the game. Andre Iguodala still remains questionable for game 2 as I think if he comes back the series will be over before you know it. For the Warriors to win game 2 they will have to find ways to limit LeBron as they can’t afford to let LeBron score 51 again because the scoring outburst almost cost them game 1 at home. I expect the Cavs to run the pick and roll and switch LeBron on Curry, the Warriors would have to live with that because they can’t afford anyone else on the Cavs team having a good night.
Player to Watch: Stephen Curry, he will continue to shoot the ball well in game 2, this might be his easiest series in the postseason yet because no one on the Cavs can shut him down. He is finally healthy and playing really well ever since he came back from injury.
How Cleveland Cavaliers & Golden State Warriors Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Warriors are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss.
Cavaliers are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 2 days rest.
Against The Spread Selection: Golden State Warriors
My reason for the pick :
The Warriors should win game 2 with ease, the Warriors will come out of the gate firing from the distance as the Cavs won’t be able to catch up with the Warriors potent offense. The Cavs ran out of steam when the game reached the overtime period in game 1. I don’t expect LeBron to replicate what he did in game 1. Stephen Curry continues to have his ways in this series. I predict that Kevin Durant will go off in game 2 at home.
