Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Detroit Pistons vs Chicago Bulls

An Eastern Conference central division matchup between the visiting Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls will take place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday night at 8 pm EST.  Chicago will be playing their first home game of the season while the Detroit Pistons will go on the road before returning home for three home matchups versus the 76’ers, Cavs, and the Celtics.  The Pistons won their first game of the year on Wednesday night as they out-dueled the Brooklyn Nets by a 103-100 score as Andre Drummond led the way with 24 points along with 20 boards while Blake Griffin chipped in 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in the win as the Pistons outscored the visitors 59-27 in the second and third quarters to take control of the game and get the win after a slow start in the first period.  The Pistons won three of four games versus the Bulls last year while also going 3-1 ATS.

Detroit Pistons's Latest Performance :

The Detroit Pistons struggled early in the game versus the Brooklyn Nets as the visitors outscored the Pistons 29-24 in the opening period as the home team went down 8-0 before getting their first basket.  Nonetheless, by outscoring the Nets by five in the second quarter as well as by seven in the third, the Pistons were able to get a handle of the game thanks to Drummond and Griffin leading the way with a combined 50 points and 28 boards en route to the victory.  The Nets were a formidable  opponent on this night however as they went up by as many as 12 points in the first half, yet the Pistons took control and went up by as many as 13 before the road team battled back late in the game.  For the game, the Nets out-shot the Pistons from the floor 48.8% to 42.4%, yet, Brooklyn did themselves no favors as they shot only 68% from the free throw line while the Pistons got to the line 22 times while making 19.  Detroit also out-rebounded the Nets by a 46-39 margin in the win while the Nets dished out more assists (28-21).

Chicago Bulls's Latest Performance :

Chicago, as stated, will grace the United Center fans with a young yet talented lineup as they will rely on second year Kris Dunn (8 ppg, 3 reb, 4 ass) to run the offense.  Dunn will be working alongside guard Zack Levine (14 ppg, 3 ass) along with fifth year man Justin Holiday (7 ppg) who will be manning the small forward position.  To round out the starting five, Jabari Parker (15 ppg, 6 reb) and Robin Lopez (9 ppg, 5 reb) rounds out the pivotal players for a Bulls team that lacked consistent defensive effort in allowing 110 points to their opponents in 2017-18 while the offense put up only 102.9 points per outing.  In addition to this, center Omer Asik (5 ppg, 7 reb), and Forward Bobby Portis (9 ppg, 6 reb) will compliment Lopez and Parker in the frontcourt and will attempt to provide a defensive presence in 2018-19.  Finally, guard Denzel Valentine (8 ppg, 4 reb, 2 ass) will also be a critical piece off the bench as he will need to provide a spark to a second-string unit that will certainly need to keep up the intensity in sparing the Dunn and Levine.

How Detroit Pistons & Chicago Bulls Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Detroit is 0-1 ATS while the OU is 01

Chicago is 0-0 ATS while the OU is 0-0

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Chicago will look to improve upon their 27-55 season last year as they were ranked 13th in the Eastern Conference while Detroit will look to build from their win over the Nets on Wednesday night.  The Bulls did not have much success at all facing Detroit last season as they went 1-3 for the year with their only win coming at the United Center on January 13, 2018 in a two-point victory.  On the other hand, the Bulls lost the remaining three games by an average of 23 points, including a season ending 119-87 loss at home.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Detroit Pistons

My reason for the pick :

I will have to back the Pistons in this matchup as they not only have the talent, but, they also played well after an awful start versus the Nets on Wednesday.  Look for the one-two punch in Griffin and Drummond to dominate down low as they will likely do against the competition all season, while the Bulls will struggle in finding ways to score with a lineup that does not have much experience, yet their youthfulness and speed may be their biggest asset.  In all, the Pistons will collect the easy win in this contest in what will likely be a relatively low scoring affair.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

I will pick the under to be the play in this game as the Bulls simply do not match up well with the overall physicality that the Pistons bring to the table.  This is evident in that the Bulls have failed to score 100 points in three of four games versus the Pistons last year.  With that being the case, look for the Pistons to pound the ball to their bigs in this game while preventing the Bulls from getting much going on offense in what will be a slow night offensively for the home team.
