Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Utah Jazz vs New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans will welcome the Utah Jazz to Smoothie King Center as the Pelicans were able to remain undefeated to start the season as they were able to come back and win against the Nets in their last game while the Jazz was able to upset the Rockets on the road. Game tips off at 7:00 PM ET.
Utah Jazz's Latest Performance :
The Utah Jazz got their revenge against the Rockets after last year postseason lost. Leading the way for the Jazz was Donovan Mitchell he had himself a night scoring 38 points and dishing out 7 dimes. The Rockets were without Chris Paul so the Jazz made sure that they took advantage. Rudy Gobert scored 12 points with 13 rebounds, three blocks and two steals in 34 minutes. He was efficient with 4-of-5 field goals and 4-of-6 free throws, and five of his boards came on the offensive glass. He’s opened the season with four consecutive double-doubles, averaging 2.3 blocks and 1.7 steals. He will go up against Anthony Davis in his next game. Ricky Rubio will have to play better as he can’t afford to have a bad shooting night going up against an undefeated Pelicans team. He’s a combined 7-of-32 from the field he was never known as a shooter in this league but he can certainly do better after what he has shown us last year in the playoffs.
New Orleans Pelicans's Latest Performance :
The Pelicans are still undefeated to start this young season. Leading the way for the Pelicans was Jrue Holiday he scored a season-high 26 points against the Nets on Friday, adding three rebounds, five assists, with 3 threes. It was great to see that he was able to find his shooting touch after struggling to score in his first three games of the season. Holiday is building on an impressive postseason run last season as he showed us why he is still one of the best two-way players in the game. Julius Randles had a nice performance as he scored 14 points and grabbed seven board. He continues to just set up shop in the paint and he’s meshed nicely with Anthony Davis he could be the missing link that could bring the Pelicans to the next level. Anthony Davis had a rough shooting night as he shot just 6-of-19 from the field for 18 points with 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. His 5 blocks on the night made him become the 94th player to join the NBA’s 1,000 blocks club. He gets to face Rudy Gobert in his next game at home.
How Utah Jazz & New Orleans Pelicans Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Pelicans are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. NBA Northwest.
Jazz are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 2 days rest.
Against The Spread Selection: New Orleans Pelicans 1.5
My reason for the pick :
I am taking the Pelicans in this game as they will be able to edge out the Utah Jazz at home. Anthony Davis isn’t going to have back-to-back bad shooting games and with Jrue Holiday lighting up the board with 28 in the previous game this Pelicans team will be very hard to beat at home when two of their best players are rolling offensively. It would be a great matchup down low between Gobert and Davis. For the Jazz, it is the opposite because they will have to rely on Mitchell to carry the scoring load and he will be going up against Holiday that would be a tough task for him to do. The Jazz have not many scoring options as they will drop this game on the road.
