Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls will look to return home to the United Center after a 2 game road stand as they will battle the Cleveland Cavilers in an Eastern Conference matchup. The Chicago Bulls have been trying to rebuild the last few years post-Jimmy Butler while the Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the worst teams in the NBA due to the departure of LeBron James.
Cleveland Cavaliers's Latest Performance :
The Cleveland Cavaliers and their fan base knew that it was going to be a rebuilding year after LeBron James took his talents elsewhere but 1 win in their first 10 games is not what they expected and the loss of star Kevin Love (Injury) only makes it worst. Before Kevin Love went down with an injury he was carrying the team on his back as he led the Cavs in PPG (19), RPG (13.5), and APG (3.5) but with the loss of their star PF, there is essentially no one who can put up consistent numbers for the Cavaliers. The production has shifted from player to player on a daily basis as Jordan Clarkson, Cedi Osman, Colin Sexton, Rodney Hood, and George Hill are all averaging double-digit numbers in the PPG area. Some of the veterans that LeBron saw as valuable assets have essentially collapsed to nothing as J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver are only averaging a combined 5.7 PPG. The Cavaliers have failed to put up points in games and combine that with a bottom 10 defense and we have one of the worst teams in Cleveland history. To kick off this week the Cavaliers fell on the road to an inconsistent Orlando Magic team, 102-100. The Cavs did receive a solid outing from their starting center Tristan Thompson who posted a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds but their sensational first-round pick Colin Sexton never gained his footing in this matchup as he only dropped 5 points in 17 minutes of playing time. The Cavaliers look destined for a top 3 draft pick and who knows, maybe they will find their next LeBron James?
Chicago Bulls's Latest Performance :
The Chicago Bulls have made it clear that they are trying to compete with the team they have now as they signed Zach LaVine to an extension as well as threw Jabari Parker a ton of money in this past free agency, but the youth movement has also taken over the Chicago area especially down low as they last two 1st round draft picks have been big men. The signing of LaVine was questionable considering the amount of money they threw at the explosive SG but the 4th year veteran out of UCLA has put his money where his mouth is and is currently leading all Bulls scorers with 27.9 PPG. The 2018 1st round pick Wendell Carter is an amazing athlete and the rookie out of Duke has shown flashes of what is to come as he is averaging just shy of a double-double with 11.1 PPG and 7.6 RPG but he is also leading the team in blocks as that number sits 1.91. Joining Carter later in the season will be the 2017 1st round pick Lauri Markkanen who has yet to see the floor this season due to a right elbow injury he endured in the offseason. Markkanen will be an extremely helpful addition to the starting lineup as the 2nd year pro out of Arizona averaged 15.2 PPG and 7.5 RPG in his first go around. The Bulls entered this current week with a solid win over the New York Knicks where they were led by Zach LaVine who had a monster game with 41 points. The rookie Carter also contributed nicely to the win as he had a double-double(11 points, 13 rebounds) in the 22 minutes he saw.

Against The Spread Selection: Chicago Bulls
My reason for the pick :
This is a battle of bad vs. worse but unfortuanley we have to pick a winner for this matchup of two bottom feeders in the Eastern Conference and I have to give the nod to the home team. Chicago has been impressive at home ATS this year as they are sitting at 5-1 and Chicago fans will be rowdy for this game considering they know its a winnable game. Chicago fields some of the better players in this matchup as the Cavaliers dont have an answer for Zach LaVine and Jabari Parker. I exepect the young starts of Chicago to fight hard in front of their home crowd and esentially come out with a victory against a lowly Cleveland Cavaliers team.
