Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Milwaukee Bucks vs Los Angeles Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers return back to the Staples Center for a non-conference matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks, the opening tip is slated for 3:30 PM. The Clippers have been competitive in a strong Western Conference as they sit above .500 while the Milwaukee Bucks have asserted themselves as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference with wins in 8 of their first 10 games.
Milwaukee Bucks's Latest Performance :
The Milwaukee Bucks have had the talent to compete in the weak Eastern Conference the last few years but they have failed to meet the expectations set, but times have changed this year as they are receiving MVP type numbers out of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and found a proven coach in Mike Budenholzer. Giannis has shown us how much of a freak athlete he truly is ever since he entered the league whether its the impressive moves to the hoop, the flying slam dunks, or the block shots on the defensive end, but for once we are truly seeing his production and skill level replicated in his stats. Giannis leads the Bucks in PPG with 25.8 PPG as well as in RPG where he sits at 13.3 but the success around him has also helped the Bucks succeed early on. Small Forward Khris Middleton has been a light out shooter for the Buck this past year as he is sitting at 19.5 PPG but he has also been solid on the defensive end as he leads the team in steals per game with 1.3. The upgrades on the bench have also helped the Bucks be successful this year as they drafted energizer bunny Donte DiVincenzo in the first round as well as added Ersan Ilyasova. The Bucks suffered their 2nd loss of the season to the Portland Trailblazers on 11/6 and they got exposed, 118-103. Antetokounmpo and Middleton had a typical game as the duo combined for 45 points, 17 rebounds, and 12 assists but the bench was silent as Ilyasova and DiVincenzo combined for only 11 points in over 47 minutes of playing time.
Los Angeles Clippers's Latest Performance :
The Los Angeles Clippers are unsure of what direction they want to head towards as they let all three members of their “big-3” walk within the last year or so, but one of the pieces they received back for Blake Griffin has been the key to the Clippers early success. Tobias Harris was the main part of the Blake Griffin trade last season and the PF hasn’t disappointed as he is averaging 21.3 PPG and 8.5 RPG, both team highs. Joining Harris on the high road to success has been Danilo Gallinari who is finally healthy and is averaging 20 PPG. More impressively the Clippers have received a great big deal of their success with two bench player as Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell are sitting 3&4 on the team in PPG with Lou Williams dropping 19.1 PPG in 24.2 minutes of playing time. The Clippers started off the week with an impressive win over the Timberwolves as they received production from their top 3 scorers as Harris, Gallinari, and Williams combined for 64 points. Another asset in the Blake Griffin trade was 7’3 Sebrian center Boban Marjanovic and he has played nicely in his time in Los Angeles. Boban came off the bench in their recent win over Minnesota and dropped 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in only 18 minutes of play. The Clippers will be looking to squeeze more production out of their two first-round picks in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson as the duo is only averaging 5.5 PPG and 1.7 APG.

Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Clippers
My reason for the pick :
On paper, the Milwaukee Bucks are better and yes they may be further along in the playoffs than the Los Angeles Clippers come April but the trends have all the fingers pointing to the Clippers to be victorious in this game. The Bucks are enduring a rough west coast trip which saw them get smashed by the Portland Trailblazers earlier in the week which contributes to their 1-3 ATS record on the road. On the other hand, the Clippers have been excellent at home against the spread as they are currently sitting at 4-1. These teams will have some interesting matchups to watch but the one area I think the Clippers could take advantage of is the gritty guard play of Patrick Beverly and Lou Williams. Expect the Clippers to get a nice confidence booster from this win and continue picking up solid wins in the Western Conference.
