Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Brooklyn Nets vs Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are set to play in their 5th straight home game at Oracle Arena as they will play a non-conference foe in the Brooklyn Nets. The Golden State Warriors look as good as any team in the NBA as they have won 10 out of their first 11 games and look destined to win yet another NBA title while the Brooklyn Nets are balancing a youth movement with expiring contracts and might be a few years away from competing in an average Eastern Conference.
Brooklyn Nets's Latest Performance :
The Brooklyn Nets are compiling the draft picks from taking on all these expiring contracts of pricy veterans but as we have seen early on in Brooklyn there is potential for them to be competitive in the coming years. One of those draft picks who the Nets are happy about is Caris LeVert who has been an absolute force on both ends of the floor as the 3rd-year PG out of Michigan is leading the team in scoring with 20.5 PPG and steals with 1.5 per game. The thing that has made the Nets significant this year is the even production out of all the guys who see the floor as they have 5 guys who are averaging double-digit scoring. Another product of the Nets draft picks is 2017 1st rounder Jarrett Allen who is scoring 11.3 PPG and grabbing 7.8 RPG. Allen is not only a solid offensive center but his bread and butter is on the defensive end where he is leading Brooklyn in blocks per game as that number sits at 1.8. The Nets have the expiring contracts of Jared Dudley, Allen Crabbe, and Kenneth Faried but they have all been nice role players, especially Dudley who has started in every game this season. The Nets were able to show their development in a recent matchup against the Phoneix Suns as they beat up them up on the road, 104-82. LeVert was the leading scorer for the Nets with 26 points but the scoring was spread around as D’Angelo Russell dropped 15, Spencer Dinwiddie dropped 12, and Joe Harris dropped 11.
Golden State Warriors's Latest Performance :
The Golden State Warriors are no surprise to be the favorite to win an NBA title once again as they boost arguably 5 of the best players in the NBA. The Warriors have become such a hard team to guard because there aren’t enough guys on the court to double-team Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson. The thing that is scary for the rest of the NBA about the 10-1 Warriors is the fact that all-star DeMarcus Cousins has yet to return back from his injury which is another 20+ PPG player for the Warriors. Steph Curry has led the way for the Warriors in the scoring category as the star PG is averaging 31.3 PPG and contributing another 6.1 APG. Behind Curry in the scoring department is Kevin Durant who is averaging 27.7 PPG and Klay Thompson who is averaging 20.5 PPG. After the big 3, there is a drastic drop off in scoring but that doesn’t take away from the work of Draymond Green who is averaging 7.6 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 7.9 APG. The Warriors were coming off a solid win over the Memphis Grizzlies as they were able to score 117 points on the #1 scoring defense in the NBA. Klay Thompson took the charge as the leading scorer in this matchup as the SG dropped 27 points and he was followed by Kevin Durant who had 22 of his own. The Warriors were able to receive solid bench play from backup wing Alfonzo McKinnie who dropped 14 minutes in 29 minutes of playing time.

Against The Spread Selection: Golden State Warriors*
My reason for the pick :
The Golden State Warriors will most likely be favored in every single game this year and reasonably so as they field one of the best lineups in all of the NBA. The one area that the Brooklyn Nets post better numbers in is team defense but not by much as Brooklyn ranks 9th and Golden State ranks 12th, but the one area where the Warriors overpower the Nets is scoring the basketball as they are #1. The Nets just don’t have the firepower to hang with the Warriors on the road which will lead to easy victory at Oracle Arena for Golden State.
