Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Brooklyn Nets vs Minnesota Timberwolves

The Brooklyn Nets will travel to Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to battle the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night at 8 pm EST.  The Nets are coming off a 116-100 road loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night as Kevin Durant acted as scorer along with playmaker for the Warriors (with Curry sidelined) in putting up 28 points and 11 assists in the win.  The Nets also allowed the home team to shoot 55% from the floor in the loss, thus halting a three-game winning streak.  The Timberwolves will play their first game in three days when they picked up a 121-110 loss at Sacramento as the Kings missed 14 of their first 16 shots but would rally in the second half to pick up a much-needed victory.  The loss was the fifth straight for the T’Wolves to where four of five games were by 10 points or more.

Brooklyn Nets's Latest Performance :

The Nets were simply not only their game on Saturday night as they fell to the Golden State Warriors by 16 points on the road.  They came into the game ranking within the top 15 in the league in field goal and three-point percentages, however, they shot 47% from the field yet only 29% from three-point range in this matchup.  The actually deal breaker for the Nets was that they allowed 55% shooting to the Warriors in the contest with Quin Cook, stepping up for an injured Steph Curry, scored 27 points to lead Golden State while sending the Nets to their first loss in four outings.

Joe Harris scored 24 points for the Nets while DeAngelo Russel had twelve points and five assists for a Nets team that were on the back end of a two game, two-day schedule.  They will have had two day’s rest before they match up with Minnesota and will likely find success versus a Timberwolves team that has had issues playing defense for much of the season.

Minnesota Timberwolves's Latest Performance :

The Timberwolves are slipping fast early in the 2018 season as they are ranked near the bottom in the league as it relates to points allowed (118 ppg), field goal percentage allowed (47%), along with three-point percentage allowed (38%).  Offensively, the Timberwolves are middle of the road in the league in ranking 15th in the league in points scored per game with 111 on just 43% shooting from the field.  Karl-Anthony Towns averages 20 points per game for Minnesota while also leading the team in rebounds per game with eleven.

Derrick Rose leads the team in assists with 4.7 per game this year while Towns also lead in blocks per game with two per outing.  Jimmy Butler went three for 12 in their matchup versus the Kings with 13 points while Towns and Rose chipped in 39 and 21 points, respectively, to keep the team in the game.  Nonetheless, with 25 points from Willie Cauley Stein along with 17 points from Iman Shumpert, the Kings were able to squeak out a much-needed victory.

How Brooklyn Nets & Minnesota Timberwolves Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Brooklyn is 7-5 ATS while the OU is 6-6

Minnesota is 5-8 ATS while the OU is 5-8

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for the Nets to come out looking to score in this matchup.  The Timberwolves, as stated, are having problems with their individual and team defense and with the Nets looking to atone for their loss versus the Warriors, look for Harris and company to step up the pace in this area.  Of course, the Timberwolves will also make some plays in the game, however, they are continuing to find out what type of team that are/will be.  With that being said, look for them to struggle yet again as the Butler rumblings continue to reverberate.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Brooklyn Nets

My reason for the pick :

I will take the Nets in this matchup as I believe that they are simply the more focused team at this point in the season.  There is so much that is currently going on within the Timberwolves locker room that has nothing to do with basketball.  And while they will certainly play to compete, issues with cohesiveness on the defensive side of the ball as well as offensive efficiency will plague the team once again.  In all, look for the road team to pick up a slim victory in this matchup.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

I will pick the under as the play in this contest as it has been the play in three of the last four games for the Nets while also being the result in the last five games for the Timberwolves.  Again, both teams are finding it hard to score consistently early in this season.  Look for this to continue in this matchup in what will be a low scoring competitive matchup from teams looking to get back on the winning track as soon as possible.
