Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Orlando Magic vs Washington Wizards
A rematch from last Friday’s matchup versus the Wizards and the Magic to where the Magic picked up a 117-108 home win will take place at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., on Monday night at 7 pm EST. The Wizards are coming off a 116-110 road win over the Miami Heat as they were able to get ten points each from John Wall and Austin Rivers in the fourth quarter to lift Washington to a win, halting a two-game skid.
On the other hand, the Magic’s last game was on November 9th when they picked up the 117-108 home win over the Wizards as they were up by over 25 points at one time only to let the Wizards get back into the contest late. With Nikola Vucevic scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds along with DJ Augustin having only six points, two assists, and a steal for the game; Yet, Augustin nailed a huge three pointer late while accounting for a Torrence Ross’ layup late in the game to seal the victory. Both teams shot over 51% from the field while also shooting well from the three-point arc. Aaron Gordon put in 20 points for Orlando while Bradley Beal had 27 points while going four of nine from three-point range in the loss.
Orlando Magic 's Latest Performance :
The Magic has had much time to relish their last win over the Wizards as they have not played since their Friday night home win. They will now take to the road for their next two games to where they will battle the New York Knicks on Sunday night while getting the Wizards on Monday in a finale of a back to back. And while the Magic has not played well in terms of wins and losses on the road, they are 3-1 ATS in their last four road games and will certainly look to add to their recent success in winning three of their last four games, overall.
Nikola Vucenvic leads the team in scoring with 17.9 points per game along with 10.7 rebounds on 54% shooting. DJ Augustin leads the team in assists per game with 4.8 while the team allows their opponents to score 110 points per game, good for 13th in the league. On the other hand, the Magic must become more consistent on the offensive end as they are ranked in the lower tier of NBA teams in scoring with 102.6 points per game.
Washington Wizards 's Latest Performance :
The Wizards were able to halt a two-game losing streak with their last win; However, they remain in last place within the Southeast standings with a record of 3-9 on the year. Their troubles can directly be attributed to the fact that they do/will not play defense. The Wizards are ranked near the bottom in every major defensive category for the NBA while their offense is middle of the road in ranking 16th in points scored with 111 points per game while being 18th in shooting percentage per outing with 45 percent per.
They surpassed this number in their last matchup versus the Heat as they shot 48% for the night while holding the Heat to only 44% shooting from the field. John Wall had 28 points to lead the Wizards while Austin Rivers along with Bradley Beal had 18 points each for Washington. Dwight Howard had 11 points and 16 rebounds for the road team as well.
How Orlando Magic & Washington Wizards Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Orlando is 5-7 ATS while the OU is 4-8
Washington is 2-9 ATS while the OU is 7-4
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will be an interesting game in that I will want to see how a win impacts this Wizards team that has struggled mightily thus far in the season in getting on track on both ends of the floor. The Magic, on the other hand, has had much success recently and will love to keep this going versus a team that they dominated in their last time out. Of course, the road team has played well ATS lately while the Wizards have certainly shown more fight at home than they have on the road as well. In all, this will certainly be a competitive matchup on Monday night.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Washington Wizards
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Washington Wizards in this contest as they managed to pull things together late in the game in their last outing versus the Magic despite the loss. However, they fell short primarily due to missed opportunities offensively. In this contest, look for the tables to change as the home team will come out strong while claiming a lead early on the Magic. This, of course, will allow the Wizards to cruise to victory in what will be a team win as they will show up on both ends of the floor to get a victory.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
I will back the over in this contest simply because while each team picked up a win in their last outing, they continue to struggle on the offensive end. Of course, each team has the types of talent that can certainly light things up offensively, however, have simply not found their consistently yet and will likely struggle in this matchup. In all, look for both teams to come out flat while heating up as the game wears on. Nonetheless, the total will not surpass its set limit as a result.
