Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
San Antonio Spurs vs Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings play in their 4th consecutive home game at the Golden 1 Center as they will play Western Conference foe in the San Antonio Spurs, the opening tip is slated for 10:00 PM. The San Antonio Spurs swapped star for star this past offseason but they have yet to see drastic change while the Sacramento Kings have implemented the youth movement but don’t call it a rebuild just yet as they have been playing solid basketball.
San Antonio Spurs's Latest Performance :
The San Antonio Spurs made the move to trade away Kawhi Leonard but it’s not like they didn’t receive a valuable asset in return as DeMar DeRozan has been one of the best players on the Spurs this season. DeRozan comes to Texas after a long stint in Toronto and the SG has proved doubters wrong as he is currently leading the team in PPG (26.4), APG (6.8), SPG (1.3), and sits 3rd on the team in RPG (6.4). Joining DeRozan is star PF LaMarcus Aldridge who is averaging just shy of a double-double as he has put up 18.6 PPG and 9.8 RPG. DeRozan and Aldridge are having good seasons but if the Spurs want to make the playoffs once again especially in a tough Western Conference they will need more production out of their “other” guys. The one area that can be pointed to for the Spurs is the lack of a true PG as the young Dejounte Murray is out for the season with a torn ACL. Murray was a great game manager for the Spurs last year as he averaged 8.1 PPG and 5.7 RPG and his presence has been missed for Gregg Popovich and company. The Spurs dropped a recent road game with the Miami Heat as they were only able to squeeze out 88 points all game long. Patty Mills who has stepped in for Murray had a solid game as he dropped a team-high 20 points. DeMar DeRozan continued his hot start to the season by averaging a double-double for the Spurs as he scored 18 points and grabbed an additional 14 rebounds.
Sacramento Kings's Latest Performance :
The Sacramento Kings may still be nowhere near playoff territory in a tough Western Conference but they sure have proved that success is on the way in California as they have played some solid basketball to start of the season. The Kings roll out a young lineup day in and day out but the player the Kings are truly happy about is their 2017 1st round pick De’Aaron Fox who has taken a big step forward from his rookie campaign. Fox is sitting 2nd on the team in scoring as he is averaging 18.7 PPG but he is also leading the team in assist as he is currently averaging 7.3 APG. Fox was only able to average 11.6 PPG and 4.4 APG in his rookie season so the development of Fox is apparent. Another key piece to the Kings success is one of the assets they received back in the DeMarcus Cousins trade in Buddy Hield as the sharpshooter is leading the team in scoring with 20.1 PPG. The Kings 2018 1st round pick is performing well in the scoring department as he is averaging 12.8 PPG but the Kings want to increase his rebound numbers as he is averaging 6.5 RPG. The Kings dropped a recent home game against the Toronto Raptors but they played well as a team as they had three different guys touch 20+ points. Buddy Hield scored just above his season average as the SG out of Oklahoma dropped 24 points but the player who came to the surprise of Kings fans is Willie Cauley-Stein who matched Hield with a 24 point performance of his own.

Against The Spread Selection: Sacramento Kings
My reason for the pick :
Did many people see the Sacramento Kings starting off as good as they have? No, but we have always seen the potential for the young team and we are finally seeing it put into action. The Spurs have more superstar talent between DeRozan and Aldridge but outside of these two pieces, Popovich is receiving little production out of their starters. Fox is an intriguing player to watch and the Spurs don’t have a defensive PG to match up with the 2nd year pro out of Kentucky. On top of Sacramento playing good, I think the true difference is the fact that they are one of the best ATS teams at home this season while San Antonio has been average at best on the road. Take Sacramento to win this game outright.
