Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Philadelphia 76’ers vs Orlando Magic

The Philadelphia 76’ers will travel to Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida to battle the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night at 7 pm EST.  The Sixers have won three of four games recently after a 124-114 road win over the Miami Heat as their offense was on fire in shooting 47% for the night.  Joel Embiid led the charge with 35 points along with 18 rebounds while JJ Reddick posted 25 points for the night while going eleven for 20 for the game.

The Orlando Magic halted a two-game winning streak as they suffered a 117-109 road loss to the Washington Wizards in their last outing as they allowed them to shoot 50% from the field for the night along with John Wall and Bradley Beal scoring 25 and 21 points, respectively, in the loss.  Nonetheless, both teams have been successful thus far in the year and look to continue this success with a win on Wednesday night.  The over has been the play in the last four meetings amongst these teams while the Sixers are 6-1 ATS in the last seven games in Orlando.

Philadelphia 76’ers's Latest Performance :

The Sixers were clicking on all cylinders in their victory over the heat in their last matchup.  Embiid led the team in scoring once again with 35 points and 18 boards while JJ Reddick also had a solid 25 points as the Sixers won their third game in four outings.  Furkan Korkmaz scored 16 while Ben Simmons and Mike Muscala each had 13 for Philadelphia as they will introduce Butler to the lineup just before their matchup versus the Magic.  The Sixers are 9-6 on the season while not only improving on the offensive end in scoring 113 points per game, but, on the defensive end as well in allowing 43% shooting to their opponents.

With Butler in the lineup, look for them to become an even better defensive team while their offense will become much more potent at the same time.  They may certainly have success as the Magic has had problems in allowing higher than average shooting percentages to their opponents throughout the year.

Orlando Magic's Latest Performance :

The Magic were unable to contain Wall and Beal in their last outing on Monday night.  And with the bench for Washington, led by Jeff Green who hit four threes for the night, the Wizards were certainly able to gain some confidence with the win.   “It gives us a lot of confidence, defending home court,” said Green, “but we can’t dwell too much on these two wins. We still have a lot of work to do.”  This has been the philosophy of the Wizards lately; However, their win came after the Magic whipped up on them three days earlier as Aaron Gordon had 20 points while Nikola Vucevic having 21 to lead the team on a night where the Magic shot over 51%.

Nonetheless, the Magic will look to move on as well as they will face a Philadelphia team that was already ripe with talent and experience; However, with the addition of Jimmy Butler in a recent trade from Minnesota, the team just got much better.  On paper, at least.

How Philadelphia 76’ers & Orlando Magic Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Philadelphia is 6-9 ATS while the OU is 9-6

Orlando is 6-8 ATS while the OU is 5-9

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will be an important game for the Sixers as Jimmy Butler will make his first appearance for the team after being traded.  With that being said, I will not expect much from the Sixers in this matchup as they will be attempting to work Butler into the lineup.  However, look for the Magic to possibly take advantage of this as they have won two of three games while looking to get back on track after their recent loss to the Wizards.  In all, this will certainly be an interesting matchup as both teams will be looking to improve upon their recent success.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Orlando Magic

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Magic in this game as I envision the Sixers having to acclimate themselves to life with Jimmy Butler in the lineup.  As stated, his presence will positively impact the defense instantly as Butler can certainly lock down opposing players; However, the offense will struggle until they get some quality time in playing together.   Nonetheless, expect the Magic to come out looking to get going on the offensive end as they have struggled in this area all year long as they will find success early while allowing their positive start to propel them to a win in the end.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

The Magic have been much better on the defensive end this year than on the offensive end.  With that being the case, I will back the under in this matchup as I happen to believe the Sixers offense will indeed sputter a bit with Butler making his season appearance.  Nonetheless, Butler’s presence, as stated, will immediately be felt on the defensive end as a struggling Magic squad may find it difficult to score early.
