Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Miami Heat vs Indiana Pacers

The Miami Heat will travel to Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, to battle the Indiana Pacers on Friday night at 7 pm EST.  The Heat are coming off a 120-107 road win over the reeling Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night as Tyler Johnson led Miami with 24 points in the win while Goran Dragic also chipped in 21 points in the much-needed win.  Also, the victory halted a set of subpar games for the Heat as they halted a three-game losing streak.

The Pacers, on the other hand, have lost three of their last four games with the last being a 115-103 road loss to the Houston Rockets on Sunday night as Victor Oladipo led the Pacers with 22 points in a game where Indiana allowed the dangerous Rockets to shoot 49% from the field.  They now return home for a three-game home stand, but, have had trouble at home as well in that they are also losers of three of their last four games at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse.  The Heat are 2-6 ATS in the last eight games in Indianapolis while the over is 5—0 in the late fie meetings amongst these two teams.

Miami Heat 's Latest Performance :

Miami halted a three-game losing streak with a 13-point win over the Brooklyn Nets at home on Wednesday night as Josh Richardson (15 points) along with Hasaan Whiteside (14 points, 10 rebounds) combined with Tyler Johnson and Goran Dragic to get the much-needed victory.  The team shot 55% from the field for the game while going only 8 for 29 from three-point range.  And despite 17 offensive rebounds for the Nets, they shot only 40% as a team for the night while missing Caris Levert due to a dislocated foot that will leave him out for months.

As far as the Heat is concerned, they look to get better on the defensive end of the court as they had allowed 115 points per game prior to their most recent win.  On the other hand, with their performance versus the Nets, they hope to allow the game to be a catalyst for much better performances moving forward.  They will certainly get their chance versus a struggling Indiana team that has not performed well on the offensive end lately.

Indiana Pacers's Latest Performance :

The Pacers have hit a rough patch lately as they are losers of three of four games after a great stretch of basketball to where they won three straight at one point.  The tables have turned lately as they are averaging around 100 points per game while allowing their opponents to score 105 point per game.  In other words, their defense continues to be solid, however, their offense has taken a step back in recent games.  In fact, in their last matchup versus the Rockets, the Pacers were not good on either end as they allowed the Rockets to shoot 49% for the night along with nail 20 three pointers for the game.

James Harden (40 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists) accounted for eight threes while Chris Paul (26 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists) accounted for anther five as the Rockets went up by as many as 24 points at one time.  The Pacers, on the other hand, got 10 rebounds and 7 assists from Oladipo while Bojan Bogdanovic chipped in 20 points along with 6 rebounds along with 6 assists in the loss.  The problem for the Pacers continues their offensive production along with their ability to allow teams to shoot at a great clip from three-point range (37%) for the year.  They hope to curb this trend a bit as they take on a team in Miami that has feasted on the three pointer and are shooting 37% for the year.

How Miami Heat & Indiana Pacers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Miami is 6-8 ATS while the OU is 11-3

Indiana is 7-7 ATS while the OU is 7-7

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for the Heat to keep their winning way going as they go on the road to face a team in the Pacers that are looking to get their season back on track at home with a much-needed win.  Both teams have struggled lately, however, Miami looked much more in sync in their last outing versus the Nets while the Pacers stunk it up versus Houston on the defensive end as they allowed Houston to go crazy from their three-point line.  In all, expect this game to be very competitive as each team will be looking to either begin a new winning streak or maintain their current play, altogether.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Miami Heat

My reason for the pick :

While the Pacers have talent and experience, they have not played well at home to begin the season.  In fact, they are 1-3 on the year while being 1-3 ATS during this time.  On the other hand, the Heat stands at .500 on the road after winning their last two games while covering the spread in both.  With that being the case, along with Miami possessing much confidence after their last win over the Nets, expect the road team to come out on top in what will be a low scoring and competitive contest.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

The under has been the play in each of the Pacers home games this year due to their offense only averaging 97 points per game.  With the Heat looking to extend their stellar defensive play, look for the offense for Indiana to struggle once again in this contest.  With that being said, look for the under to be the strong play as the Heat are not known to outscore their opponents, but, wear them down over time by using their inside out game while also playing physical team defense.

Betting trends for Miami Heat :

  • Over is 4-0 in Heat last 4 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.

  • Over is 5-0 in Heat last 5 road games.

  • Over is 5-0 in Heat last 5 vs. a team with a winning straight up record.

Betting trends for Indiana Pacers:

  • Under is 4-0 in Pacers last 4 home games.

  • Under is 6-0 in Pacers last 6 games playing on 3 or more days rest.

  • Pacers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
