Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Toronto Raptors vs Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls return home to the United Center after 2 consecutive road games as they will play host to the Toronto Raptors in an Eastern Conference clash, the opening tip is slated for 8:00 PM. The Toronto Raptors currently sit at the top of the NBA with the best record while the Chicago Bulls look like they are tanking for a 3rd consecutive season.
Toronto Raptors 's Latest Performance :
The Toronto Raptors have slowed their hot start to the 2018 season with 2 consecutive losses but things are still looking up for Nick Nurse and company as they have a 2 game lead in the early Eastern Conference race. The Raptors are coming off a hard breaking buzzer-beater loss at home as they lost to their former coach Dwane Casey and the Detroit Pistons. The Raptors were led by who else by their star SF Kawhi Leonard who fell just shy of a double-double with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Leonard has clearly been the best player on a deep Raptors roster as the former San Antonio Spur is averaging 24.2 PPG and 7.8 RPG. Backup guards Fred Van Vleet and Delon Wright weren’t the usual contributors off the bench for the Raptors as they guard duo was only able to contribute 4 points in a combined 37 minutes of playing time. Backup center Greg Monroe had a nice game off the bench for the Raptors as he was able to contribute 17 points and 9 rebounds which is well above his season average of 3.9 PPG and 2.9 RPG. The Raptors showed the depth of their team by having 5 different guys hit double-digits in points as Leonard, Kyle Lowery, Greg Monroe, Pascal Siakam, and Jonas Valanciunas all had 14 points or more. The Raptors will be looking to regroup and stay healthy so they maintain the slight lead they have taken in the Eastern Conference.
Chicago Bulls's Latest Performance :
The Chicago Bulls have struggled this season due to lack of talent and the injury bug which is lining up yet another top 10 pick for the 6-time NBA Champion franchise. The Bulls extended their losing streak to 2 straight after they dropped a recent road game on the road 111-82 to the Boston Celtics. Leading scorer Zach LaVine was unable to get much generated for the Bulls in this game as the 23-year-old was kept to 10 points in the 32 minutes of playing time. LaVine has been the clear-cut go-to scorer this season as he is averaging a career-high 25.9 PPG as well as contributing 5.5 RPG, and 4.0 APG. The 2018 1st round pick Wendell Carter Jr. fell just short of a double-double for the Bulls as the former Duke Blue Devil contributed 11 points and 7 rebounds which is about where his season total sits at as he has averaged 11.5 PPG and 7.8 RPG through the first 15 games. If there was one positive for the Bulls in their latest outing against the Celtics it is the fact that they found some scoring out of 25-year-old Shaquille Harrison who has only played in 6 games this season but contributed a team-high 16 points with an additional 6 rebounds. Robin Lopez has taken a huge step backward for the Bulls this season as the veteran center has only contributed an average of 2.7 PPG and 2.0 RPG in over 15 minutes of playing time.

Against The Spread Selection: Toronto Raptors*
My reason for the pick :
I will be siding with the better team in this matchup as the Toronto Raptors look like the biggest threat to the Golden State Warriors and their supremacy in the NBA. Toronto has looked good on both ends of the court while Chicago is trying to keep their young players healthy and move on to next year where they will have 3 top 1st round picks on the floor. The Bulls don’t have enough talent to guard the Leonard or Lowery which will ultimately be the difference in this game. Take the Raptors on the road.
