Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Boston Celtics vs Charlotte Bobcats

The Boston Celtics will travel to Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, to battle the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday night beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Celtics halted a 2 game winning streak by suffering the 98-86 home loss to the Utah Jazz on Saturday night as they allowed Donovan Mitchell to score 28 points and six assists in the win while the Celtics not only shot 38% from the floor for the night, but, converted only 15% of their 3-pointers in the contest as well.

On the other hand the Charlotte Bobcats are coming off a 122-119 overtime loss at home to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night as they got 60 points from Kemba Walker in the loss yet were stung buy a Jimmy Butler three-pointer as Time expired in which to lose their third game in four outings.

Boston Celtics's Latest Performance :

The Boston Celtics have been up and down all season yet  had won two straight games before running into a confident Utah Jazz team while taking the loss on Saturday night. As stated, the Celtics shot terribly from the field on the night at 38% while only hitting 5 of 33 attempts from 3-point range. On the other hand The Jazz shot 44% from the field as Donovan Mitchell and Ricky Rubio scored 28 and 20 points, respectively, thus handing the Boston Celtics only their first home loss in their last five games.

And while Kyrie Irving had 20 points and eight rebounds in the loss, the rest of the Celtics lineup struggled all game long with Gordon Hayward going 3 for 7 for only 7 points on the night while Al Horford went four for 7 from the field with nine points in the contest.

One has to expect that with a solid defensive front court in place for the Celtics that they will somehow figure things out on the defensive end, however, their offense is not been able to kick into gear despite their talented pieces.  ”There are times when we play really tough. And then we just have, for whatever reason, moments in the game that turn into extended moments in the game when we’re not,” said Gordon Hayward, who was held to seven points against his former club. ”We’ve got to figure out how we can play a full 48 minutes and then do it again the next night when we play. We’re still not there yet.”

The Celtics will certainly look to clean things up verses a Charlotte Bobcats team that has also taken a step back on the defensive side of the ball in recent games.

Charlotte Bobcats's Latest Performance :

The Charlotte Bobcats, despite their current struggles, continue to be one of the more offensive-minded teams in the league as they are averaging 115 points per game on 45% shooting. And while the offense certainly came to play in their last three losses, the defense has been a primary issue for Charlotte as they have allowed 126 points per game during this time. In their last outing versus the Sixers on Saturday night, both teams shot 42% for the night, however, no team could sustain their momentum for long periods of time as the Sixers outscored the Bobcats in the first and fourth quarters including the overtime period.

With that being said, the Bobcats will certainly need to find themselves on the defensive end of the court at some point soon as they will simply not be able to outscored their opponents every night, as was shown in their loss to the Sixers.   As stated, Kemba Walker had 60 points for the Bobcats in the loss while Jeremy Lamb had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the defeat.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This game will be interesting in that you have two teams looking to get back on track after heartbreaking losses in their last outing. The Celtics are struggling on the defensive side of the ball and would like nothing better than to get back on the right track versus a Charlotte Bobcats team that has struggled on the defensive end as well, lately.  On the other hand, the Celtics must certainly be ready to buckle down on the defensive end in which two guard the dangerous backcourt for the Bobcats in this matchup. In all, the contrast in styles for both teams will provide for a very interesting game on Monday night amongst these two teams.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Charlotte Bobcats

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Bobcats in this matchup as I feel as if they will certainly push the pace versus the Celtics in which to score some easy baskets early, thus, determining the pace of the game. Of course, the Celtics are not a bad team, however, yet are indeed struggling at this point in the season in which to find their overall identity. With that being said, the Bobcats simply are a scoring team and will certainly play to their strengths in this matchup, allowing them to come out with a slim victory over Boston on Monday night.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

Look for both teams to come out hot on the offensive side of the ball on Monday night as Boston will be looking to atone for their lackluster offensive performance versus the Utah Jazz in their last time out. On the other hand, the Bobcats will be looking to not only continue the offensive performances that they have Illustrated recently, but, to also halt a string of losing streaks that they would certainly like to end at home in front of their home crowd. In all, look for both teams to have solid nights on the offensive end as the total will certainly surpass its set limit for this matchup.
