Brooklyn Nets (7-10) vs Miami Heat (6-10)

Date : 11/20/2018
Time : 7:30 pm EST
Location : American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida

Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Brooklyn Nets vs Miami Heat

The Brooklyn Nets will travel to American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, to take on the Miami Heat on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Nets have lost four of their last five games with their last loss coming at the hands of the LA Clippers as they were 127-119 home losers on November 17th.  And while the Nets took a slim lead advantage at the half, they went cold during the second half while shooting 45% from the field.   Brooklyn, on the other hand, allowed the Clippers to shoot 49% from the  floor along with nailing 11 of 23 3-point attempts for the night.

On the other hand, the Miami Heat also enter this matchup on a losing note as they have lost two straight after suffering a 113-97 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on November 18th as LeBron James scored 51 points while going 6 of 8 from 3-point range in the win for Los Angeles.  Wayne Ellington scored 19 points for the Heat in the loss while Tyler Johnson and Josh Richardson chipped in 17 points for Miami in defeat.

The under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings amongst these teams while the Nets are 3-1-1 against the spread in the last 5 meetings at American Airlines Arena.

Brooklyn Nets's Latest Performance :

The Brooklyn Nets continue to sink within the Atlantic standings as they are now in fourth place along with the New York Knicks occupying the celler within the division, altogether. With that being said, the Nets have dropped four of their last five as they have allowed teams to score an average of 120 points in each of the losses. On the other hand, the offense for the Nets were able to put up 109 points during this time. In other words, the Nets continue their struggles as a team early in 2018 yet should feel optimistic about their upcoming match up with the Heat. As stated, the Miami also comes to this game reeling from a rough patch of games recently, and with the availability of Dragic along with Wade for the  foreseeable future, the Heat could indeed struggle for a lot longer than expected.

It is for this reason that I expect the Nets to come out rejuvenated in this matchup as the Heat has certainly not defended well within the paint or around the perimeter in their past few outings.   D’Angelo Russell leads the team in scoring with 17 points per outing while also dishing out five assists per game in 2018. He must continue to be the tip of the spear in the Nets’ progress this year, particularly with their star in Caris LeVert going down with a season  ending foot injury last week.

Miami Heat 's Latest Performance :

The Miami Heat have lost two straight games and are desperately in need of a win after a disheartening blowout home loss to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in their last time out.  In this matchup, the Heat shot 40% from the field for the night while the Lakers shot 44%; However, the headliner of the game was LeBron James as he put up an historic night in scoring 51 points on 19 for 31 shooting including going 6 for 8 from 3-point range.  On the other hand,Wayne Ellington led the Heat in scoring with 19 points for the game while Josh Richardson and Tyler Johnson contributed 17 points in the losing effort.

The Heat have had to deal with Goran dragic being benched due to a knee injury while Dwyane Wade continues to be on hiatus due to the birth of his child.  With that being said, the Miami will certainly be looking to focus intently on getting the win in this contest as the Nets have  certainly struggled lately on both sides of the court.

How Brooklyn Nets & Miami Heat Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Brooklyn is 8-9 ATS while the OU is 9-8
Miami is 6-10 ATS while the OU is 11-5

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for this to be a low-scoring matchup due to both offenses struggling recently. With that being said, this will be an up-and-down game to where both offenses will struggle with maintaining consistency throughout the game. Of course, the contest will certainly be exciting to watch, however, do not look for many points to be scored  as both teams are currently plagued by inconsistent efforts on a nightly basis.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Miami Heat -3

My reason for the pick :

I happen to believe that the Brooklyn Nets have not fully recovered from their prior four games road trip to where a winning start ended in the Nets being manhandled by both the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves  to allow them to go 2 – 2 for the trip.  And while one would think that they would find a bit more success at home, this was certainly not the case as the Nets proceeded to lose two of their next three games, overall, all at home. With that being said, looking for the Miami Heat to right the ship in this contest as they certainly need to obtain a win in which to get themselves out of a humongous rut early in the season.

Totals Selection: Pick:   Under 215.5

My reason for the prediction :

The other has been to play in three of the last five road games for the Brooklyn Nets while being the result in the last two games for the Miami Heat. With that being said, expect both struggling offenses to continue trending downward as this will certainly be a match up to where not many points will be scored, as stated. It is for this reason that I will back the under as the strong, logical play in this instance.
