Detroit Pistons vs Houston Rockets
Two teams that have certainly been on the winning side of things lately will take the court on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. eastern time as the Detroit Pistons will face off versus the Houston Rockets at The Toyota Center in Houston Texas. The Pistons have won their last two games with their last win being at home versus a struggling Cleveland Cavaliers squad by a 113 – 102 score on November 19th. In this matchup, the Pistons got 21 points from Blake Griffin and Reggie Jackson while Andre Drummond finished the game with 23 points along with 16 rebounds in the victory.
On the other hand, the Rockets also continue to win as they picked up there fourth straight win in beating up on the Sacramento Kings by a 132 – 112 score in their last outing as James Harden and Chris Paul contributed 34 and 24 points, respectively, while combining for a 17 assists for the night. With each of these teams gaining confidence entering this game, look for this to be a very competitive yet interesting matchup. The under has been the play in the last four meetings amongst these teams while the Pistons have covered the spread in four of the last five games in Houston.
Detroit Pistons's Latest Performance :
The Detroit Pistons won their second straight game after a 113 – 102 home win over the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers on November 19th as the Pistons took a 19 point lead at the half and cruise to victory due to double doubles by both Griffin and Drummond, who had 23 points and 16 rebounds, while Griffin scored 21 points and 12 rebounds. Reggie Bullock also added 21 points while going 4 of 7 from 3-point range for Detroit in the win. Cleveland could get nothing going on offense, once again, as they only made 8 of 21 3-point attempts while being outrebounded 50-37 for the game.
Collin Sexton had 18 points to lead the Cavaliers in scoring while Jordan Clarkston chipped in 16 points in the win. Despite their current winning ways, the Pistons recently went through a rough patch to where they lost five straight games; However, weathered the storm in winning four of their last five games while looking forward to four straight home games after their match up with the Rockets on Wednesday night. In other words, the Detroit Pistons will certainly have a great opportunity in which to pick up some wins on their home court. Nonetheless, they will certainly want to come out and control the pace early in this matchup versus Houston as the Rockets have certainly looked reminiscent of the dangerous team that we are used to viewing.
Houston Rockets 's Latest Performance :
The Houston Rockets find themselves in third place within the Southwest Division standings behind the New Orleans Pelicans and the San Antonio Spurs. They have certainly used a three-game home stand recently in which to pick up some wins and get back into the swing of things, so to speak. With that being said, the Rockets won their fourth straight game versus the Kings at home in their last outing by 20 points as the Rockets were similar to their former selves in shooting 57% from the field while converting twenty of their 43 three point attempts versus Sacramento in the all-important victory. James Harden only went four for 10 from 3-point range yet scored 34 points for the night while Chris Paul and Clint Capela added 24 and 23 points, respectively.
Furthermore, Capella ended with 16 rebounds while Paul had 9 assists on the night for a Houston team that is certainly looking much better than they had early on in the season, despite committing 22 turnovers for the night. Their defense also continues to get better as they allowed the Sacramento Kings to shoot 45% from the night while also winning the rebounding battle buy a slim 41-39 margin. In all, the Rockets will certainly be looking forward to the challenge of facing a Detroit team that has also been playing top-notch basketball lately in winning four of their last five, overall.
How Detroit Pistons & Houston Rockets Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Detroit is 7-7 ATS while the OU is 7-7
Houston is 7-8 ATS while the OU is 7-8
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
As stated, look for the Houston Rockets to certainly attempt to control the pace early and often versus and defensive-minded Detroit team. Of course, the Pistons are shooting 43% from the field on a nightly basis while allowing their opponents to shoot a tad over 46%. Most alarming, the Pistons are allowing teams to shoot 32% from 3 point range, good for 29th in the league.
And while the Rockets are ranked 22nd in the league in 3-pointers made this year, they remain a dangerous team due to their ability to distribute the ball along with their possession of a deadly set of shooters on the perimeter that can certainly change the course of the game at critical points. With that being said, expect this to be an exciting game from start to finish as both teams will certainly bring their A game in which to get a much-needed victory.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Houston Rockets -9
My reason for the pick :
Again, Houston has been solid lately and I happen to feel that they will certainly continue this trend at home versus a Detroit team that has had problems scoring lately. Of course, the defense for Detroit has been solid all year long as Drummond and Griffin have teamed up to be one of the more intimidating front courts in the league; However, the Houston Rockets perform their damage on the perimeter as they will in this matchup. In other words, the Rockets will get their offense clicking outside of the paint early and often versus Detroit in this matchup en route to a home victory.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over 215
My reason for the prediction :
I will pick the over in this matchup as I happen to feel that the Houston Rockets will control the pace of the game from start to finish. It is for this reason that the score will certainly balloon over the course of the matchup and the Pistons, in an effort to keep this game competitive, will certainly have to find ways in which to score the ball. Also, the over has been the result in two of the last three games for Houston while the Pistons should have a solid night on the offensive end as the Rockets are allowing teams to shoot 47% per outing from the field.
