Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Houston Rockets vs Detroit Pistons

In a rematch from Wednesday night to where the Houston Rockets picked up a 126 – 124 home win, the Houston Rockets will now visit Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, to battle the Detroit Pistons on Friday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Houston Rockets are on a high at this time in winning five straight games with their last being at the expense of the Pistons at home as they were allowed to shoot 57% from the floor while James Harden led the team with four 3-pointers on a night where the Rockets nailed 13 for the night. Harden finished with 43 points, seven rebounds, along with nine assists  while Clint capela and Chris Paul added 27 and 20 points, respectively, in the win.

For the Pistons, Blake Griffin struggled in going 9-21 for the night yet led the team in scoring with 37 points as he went 13-15 from the free-throw line for the night. The over has been to play in seven of the last nine games amongst these teams in Detroit while the Rockets have not covered the spread in the last four meetings versus the Pistons.

Houston Rockets 's Latest Performance :

While the Rockets have had a rough go of it to begin the season, they have rebounded nicely in winning eight of their last 10 games as their last win versus the Detroit Pistons served as their fifth straight win, overall. James Harden has found himself back in the thick of the MVP race as he is now averaging 29.2 per game for the Rockets while Chris Paul leads the team in assists with 8 per game. Clint Capella leads the team with 11 rebounds per game while shooting 61% from the field thus far in the season.

And while the Rockets are allowing teams to shoot 48% from the field per outing, their defense has gotten better in terms of overall points scored as they are allowing 106 points per night. With that being said, they will love to begin a three-game road trip by once again handing it to a Piston squad that is notorious for struggling on the offensive end more often than not.

Detroit Pistons 's Latest Performance :

After losing four straight games at one point to begin the month, the Detroit Pistons have stormed back in which to win four of their last six games as they have  since stepped up things on both ends of the court. Nonetheless, the Pistons matched up versus the Houston Rockets in the last outing and came out on the losing end of a tight game throughout, yet, one that saw the Pistons continuously blow assignments on the defensive end in which to allow the Rockets to shoot 57% from the field on the night.

The Pistons are no stranger to to giving up points in 2018 as they are allowing  111 points per outing on 47% shooting from the field. Their offense has been middle of the road as well as they are ranked 30th in field goal percentage, overall. Nonetheless, Detroit is continuing to get big numbers out of Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond as they combined for 57 points in their last loss along with 22 rebounds. With that being the case, look for the Pistons to attempt to slow down the pace a bit in which to allow the Houston defense, that is allowing opponents to shoot 48% from the field per night, to actually guard their bigs for four quarters, as this certainly plays into their offensive philosophy.

How Houston Rockets & Detroit Pistons Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Houston is 7-9 ATS while the OU is  8 – 8

Detroit is 8 – 7 ATS while the OU is 8 – 7

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This game will be important to both teams not only because they will be playing a back-to-back amongst each other, but, they both need to continue to garner up momentum moving forward as they certainly seek to become party crashers within their respective divisions and conferences. With that being the case, look for both teams to come out with focus and intensity in wish to get the win; However, also expect both teams to get it done on the defensive end of the floor, particularly the Pistons. Of course, Houston will be looking to get out and run throughout the game yet the Pistons must be able to  convert on the offensive end in which to slow them down while playing tough, physical defense also.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Houston Rockets

My reason for the pick :

I will certainly back Houston in this matchup as they have simply been the more consistent team lately. And while much can  be said for a solid defense to which Detroit possesses, the ability to utilize a bevy of shooters as well as having a point guard in Chris Paul in which to distribute to those shooters can certainly  be a huge benefit for any team. It is for this reason that the Houston Rockets will indeed go on the road and beat Detroit for the second time in three nights as they will come out on the winning end of another slim victory.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

While the Rockets are certainly an offensive team, they have proven to be less potent on the road this year  in allowing the under to be the result in their last five road games. Combine this with the fact that Detroit will be looking to play a more slow-paced, physical  type of ball game, one can expect the score to be relatively low throughout what will be a very competitive game.

Betting trends for Houston Rockets :

  • Under is 5-0 in Rockets last 5 road games.
Rockets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
Rockets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.

Betting trends for Detroit Pistons :

  • Detroit Pistons are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 125 points in their previous game.
Under is 10-1 in Pistons last 11 games after allowing more than 125 points in their previous game.
