Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Brooklyn Nets

The suddenly slumping Minnesota Timberwolves will visit Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, to play the Brooklyn Nets on Friday afternoon at 12 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Timberwolves come into this matchup losers of two straight games as they suffered a slim, 103 – 101 loss at home to the Denver Nuggets in their last outing as Paul Millsap was definitely the difference for the Nuggets as he scored 25 points on the night while going 11-13 from the field as the Nuggets shot 47% from the field for the game while nailing 14 3-pointers in the meantime.

On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets lost their second game in three outings as they fell to the Dallas Mavericks by a 119 – 113 score on the road as Harrison Barnes lit up the defense for Brooklyn by finishing the game with 28 points while going 5-8 from 3-point range for the night. Allen Crabbe paced the inconsistent Brooklyn Nets with 27 points in the loss.

Minnesota Timberwolves's Latest Performance :

And while the Minnesota Timberwolves have been relatively consistent thus far in the season despite all that has gone on surrounding Jimmy Butler, in particular, they have suddenly his a mini rough patch in losing two straight games after they were outshot by the Denver Nuggets in every way at home as the Nuggets shot 47%  for the game while also giving up 14 3-pointers to the visitors en route to the defeat. And while the defense allowed 47% shooting from the field, they only gave up 103 points for the game as their offense struggled throughout in shooting 44% from the field while hitting only 9 of 32 three point attempts for the night.

As stated, Paul Millsap was certainly the player of the game for Denver as he scored 25 points to lead the team; On the other hand, Karl Anthony towns along with Derrick Rose kept the T-wolves in the game as they scored 22 and 20 points respectively, in the loss. The offesne for Minnesota is only shooting 43% from the field per outing as they will certainly like to improve upon this stat versus a Brooklyn defense that is certainly no stranger to giving up tons of points to their opponents, particularly lately.

Brooklyn Nets 's Latest Performance :

The Nets continue their up and down year as they refused to build off of the momentum of a huge victory over the Miami Heat on the road in their matchup prior to meeting the Dallas Mavericks. Versus the Mavericks, they would begin to fall behind in the second quarter as the home team outscored the Nets by a total of 27 – 18 to take an 11-point lead into halftime. And while Brooklyn would rally in the second half, it was the Dallas Mavericks that continued to capitalize on their ability to outshoot the Nets throughout the game, ultimately giving them the much-needed victory.

Nonetheless, The Nets have lost five of their last seven games as their offense, despite its troubles with injuries along with inconsistency, has really held it together pretty well. Unfortunately, it has been the lack of effort on the defensive end that has caused the Nets to struggle  early on in their 2018 campaign. And while they are ranked 16th in the league in points allowed with 111 per outing, in their last five losses, the Nets have allowed opponents to score an average of at least 116 points per game.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for this game to be important for both teams as the Timberwolves would like to get back on track as soon as possible after yet another setback versus the Denver Nuggets in their last outing. The Brooklyn Nets are simply horrible  as they have not been able to remain consistent in which to win in the league thus far in 2018. With that being the case, look for them to possibly reverse the trends versus the Timberwolves, whose defense continues to remain solid despite their offense having yet to kick things into high gear.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves

My reason for the pick :

Look for the Timberwolves to end their current two-game losing streak versus a Brooklyn Nets team that is not only playing horrible at home but are losers of three of their last five games on the road. Also, the Nets are continuing to find a scorer that can be consistent on a nightly basis as D’Angelo Russell is not panning out the way I had envisioned  at the start of the season. It is for this reason that I will back the Timberwolves to win in dominating fashion versus a Nets team that simply does not possess the focus and will to win consistently in this league.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

As stated, the defense for Minnesota has been very good this year as they are only allowing 108 points per outing to their opponents. Nonetheless, as stated, their offense is yet to click into higher gear despite having Rose and Towns playing great basketball during this time. Also, when one considers that the Nets offense has been awful for the past few weeks, the under will certainly be a strong play in this contest.

Under is 4-0 in Timberwolves last 4 Friday games.
