Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

New Orleans Pelicans vs Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards return home to the Capital One Arena after playing on the road on Friday and they will play host to the New Orleans Pelicans, the opening tip is slated for 8:00 PM. The Wizards have gone through some rough patches this season but have looked better over the last few weeks while the Pelicans are still fighting to remain in the Western Conference top teams.

New Orleans Pelicans's Latest Performance :

The New Orleans Pelicans have not started the season as they hoped as they are flitting around the .500 mark and their recent road loss against the 76ers summarizes their season as they lost by 1 point. The Pelicans top scorer Anthony Davis wasn’t as much of a threat in the scoring department as we are used to as he was only able to drop 12 points but he did grab 16 rebounds in the process. Davis currently leads the team in scoring with 26.6 PPG and also averages a double-double as he has grabbed 12.7 RPG. The Pelicans top guard in Jrue Holiday had one of the best games of his season as he dropped 30 points and dished out 10 assists. Holiday is the only other Pelican who averages over 20 points on the season as he currently scores an average of 201. PPG and dishes out an average of 9.3 APG. E’Twaun Moore put together a nice game of his own as he was able to contribute his season-high of 30 points. The Pelicans are candidates for having one of the most underrated moves in the offseason as they added former LA Laker Julius Randle. The forward had a solid outing against the 76ers as he was able to drop 22 points and grab 10 rebounds in only 28 minutes of playing time. The Pelicans will look to continue their scoring success but will need to step up their efforts on defense.

Washington Wizards's Latest Performance :

The Washington Wizards have had their fair share of drama off the court but they put that aside on 11/21 and came away with a nice win over a solid Los Angeles Clippers squad 125-118. The Wizards were led by their two-headed monster in the backcourt that has been the center of attention in the off-court drama. The leading scorer in this game as PG John Wall who dropped 30 points and grabbed 8 rebounds while SG Bradley Beal dropped 27 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The duo has been extremely inconsistent this year as John Wall is averaging 21.5 PPG and 7.9 APG while Bradley Beal is averaging a team-high 21.8 PPG. The Wizards received some solid play out of F Jeff Green as the veteran was able to drop 20 points and grab 7 rebounds. A big difference in this game was the scoring out of their other guys as Otto Potter Jr. contributed 11 points and 14 rebounds, Markieff Morris dropped 12 points and backup PG Tomas Satoransky dropped 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The Wizards missed the services of Dwight Howard down low as he sat out against the Clippers due to a Gluteal Soreness. Austin Rivers was silent against his former team as the reserve guard only dropped 2 points in 14 minutes of playing time.

Against The Spread Selection: New Orleans Pelicans

My reason for the pick :

I will be siding with the team who hasn’t had to deal with drama over the last few weeks as the New Orleans Pelicans are ready to break out and continue their success on the road. The Pelicans have the 2nd ranked scoring offense in the NBA which proves to be problematic for the Wizards who have one of the worst scoring defenses in the NBA. The Wizards backcourt will be guarded closely by Jrue Holiday, one of the best defenders in the game and they will have no answer for Anthony Davis and Julius Randle down low. The Pelicans are the better team from top to bottom and I will be siding with them on the road here.
