Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Houston Rockets vs Washington Wizards
The Houston Rockets will travel to Capital One arena in Washington, DC, to face the Washington Wizards on Monday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Rockets had certainly gained some momentum in their last five games by being undefeated before running into trouble during their current road trip as they lost their second straight matchup to Cleveland in their last outing as they allowed the struggling Cavs to shoot 49% on the night while also being heavily outrebounded in the loss, altogether.
The Washington Wizards, on the other hand, were able to win their second game in three outings in destroying the Anthony Davis-less New Orleans Pelicans in their last outing as Otto Porter and John Wall came to the rescue for the home team while coming out of an offensive funk by shooting 50% for the night in the victory.
Houston Rockets's Latest Performance :
The Houston Rockets, after winning five straight games, have dropped their last two recently as their defense has also struggled as well in allowing 116 points in their last two games. On the other hand, their offense has scored only 111 points during this time. In their matchup versus the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Houston Rockets shot well over 50% for the night yet allowed the Cavaliers to shoot 49% from the field on the night while outrebounding them by a huge margin of 49-34 the game. With that being the case, the Rockets will certainly want to give a much better effort versus the Washington Wizards as their inability to play defense will certainly hinder their opportunities not only at this point in the season, but, later on in their 2018 campaign as well.
James Harden, however, continues to put up big numbers as he scored 40 points in his last outing along with having 13 assists in the contest while Eric Gordon chipped in 22 points for Houston. Chris Paul did not play in this matchup, however is not on the injured list so I am assuming that he will be expected to play in this matchup on Monday night.
Washington Wizards's Latest Performance :
The Wizards have won two of their last three games while averaging 124 points during this time. Nonetheless, the defense is allowing opponents to score an average of 116 points in their wins as well, thus causing a bit of concern. And while the Wizards picked up a huge win over the New Orleans Pelicans in the last outing, they allowed the Pelicans to shoot 48% from the field for the night, without Anthony Davis, while allowing them to shoot 11-31 from 3-point range.
The Wizards, nonetheless, had six players in double figures for the night as Otto Porter and John Wall put in 29 and 22 points, respectively, in the win for Washington while Bradley Beal went 7-15 for the night in ending with 18 points in the victory. And while this was a much-needed win for a struggling team in Washington, their inability to prevent teams from scoring at will is as much of a concern in Washington DC, overall. In all, they are ranked 26th and 28th in shooting percentage allowed per game along with points allowed per outing with 117 per contest. With that being said, the Washington Wizards will certainly need to shore up defensive vulnerabilities in which to somehow contain a Houston squad that, despite its last loss, continues to play well on offense.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Houston Rockets will certainly want to pick up a win in this contest as they have not played well at all during their current three game road trip. With that being the case, the Washington Wizards will also want to build off of their recent success as well by putting in a much better defensive performance versus a dangerous, offensive-minded team in the Houston Rockets on Monday night. It all, expect for this team to be a back-and-forth affair to where both teams will look to establish themselves in the offensive end in which to gain advantage early.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Houston Rockets
My reason for the pick :
Look for the Houston Rockets to come out and atone for their recent horrible play on the road by picking up a much-needed victory versus a Washington Wizards team that continues to be inconsistent on both ends of the floor, despite their recent winning ways. Also, look for the Rockets to continue their stellar play on the offensive end of the court as this has been proven to be an area to where the Wizards have struggled all season long. With that being the case, the Houston Rockets will show and prove in this road contest versus a shaky squad in the Wizards to where one does not know which team will show up on a nightly basis.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over
My reason for the prediction :
With the way in which the Wizards have played defense this year, I will expect the Houston Rockets to certainly have a great night on the offensive end in this match up. On the other hand, Houston has also been known to give up points to their opponents this year as they simply look to outscore teams on a nightly basis. In all, look for this game to be an exciting and offensive-minded match up from start to finish as the scoreboard will certainly light up throughout in favor of the road team.
