Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Cleveland Cavaliers

The Minnesota Timberwolves will travel to Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, to face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Cavaliers come  into this game winners of two straight games as they were able to beat the Houston Rockets at home by a 117 – 108 score in their last outing as Collin Sexton was the leading scorer for the night with 28 points as the Cavaliers outrebounded the Houston Rockets by margin of 50-38 for the game.

On the other hand, the Timberwolves are also winners of their last two games as they were 111 – 96 winners over the Chicago Bulls at home as  Karl Anthony towns led the team in scoring with 35 points on the night along with pulling down 22 boards in the much-needed victory. With both teams being on a roll at this point, expect them to come out focused and motivated to pick up yet another win in this outing on Monday night.

Minnesota Timberwolves's Latest Performance :

The Minnesota Timberwolves have rebounded perfectly from a two-game losing streak and are now winners of two straight as they took care of the Chicago Bulls in their last match up at home. As stated, Karl Anthony Towns was the man of the hour as he pulled down 22 boards along with having 35 points to lead the Timberwolves in scoring. Derrick Rose also went two for 4 from 3-point range, ending with 22 points on the night while Dario Saric and Jeff Teague chipped in 19 and 18 points, respectively, in the win.

And while the offense for the Timberwolves have came up with some critical baskets at pivotal moments recently, their winning ways can be attributed to their defense as they have allowed opponents to score only 99 points per game in their last two, overall. The win for Minnesota also allow them to get their first win at home in three outings. With that being the case, the Timberwolves have four of their next five games at home and will certainly want to ensure that they are playing well at Target Center in which to  continue to pick up early-season wins.

Cleveland Cavaliers 's Latest Performance :

Don’t look now, but the Cleveland Cavaliers have now won two straight games and are looking to extend their momentum on Monday night as they take on a Minnesota Timberwolves squad that has also played well recently. In their last outing, the Cavaliers shot 48% for the game and despite allowing the Houston Rockets to score a tad over 50% from the floor in the contest, the Cavaliers were able to pick up some huge baskets from Collin Sexton, who led the team with 28 points for the night, while  Jordan Clarkson also chipped in 20 points in the win for Cleveland.

The offense for Cleveland has showed up during their current two-game winning streak as they are averaging 119 points during this time after a 3 game stretch to where they only put up 101 points per game. One of the catalyst for their winning ways lately has been the outstanding play of their center Tristan Thompson who chipped in 16 points along with pulling down 22 rebounds in their win versus the Houston Rockets. And while the Cleveland Cavaliers continue to allow their opponents to shoot 49% from the floor per night, they are only allowing them to average 110 points per game in the last two outings. They was certainly be looking to extend their winning play, and stated, versus a Minnesota Timberwolves squad that are coming into this game with a bit confident as well after a motivating two-game winning streak.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will certainly be an interesting game for both teams as I see both being very focused and intense in getting a much-needed win in the contest. As stated, both teams are coming into the game with two game winning streaks to where the offense for Cleveland has certainly been the catalyst while the defensive pressure  for the Timberwolves have allowed them to rebound from a recent two-game losing streak. In all, expect this to be a low-scoring and physical matchup as the Timberwolves would love to slow down the pace in this game in which two play their style of offense. On the other hand, the Bulls will want to push the pace early and often in which to pick up early baskets in transition.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves

My reason for the pick :

I will pick the Timberwolves in this matchup in that they have been the most consistent team of the two. And while much respect can be given to Cleveland by picking up two huge wins, I expect the Timberwolves to come out and establish themselves and their physical style of basketball early versus a Cleveland Cavaliers team that has  not shown that they can compete with teams in this area. In all, expect Minnesota to come out with a hard fought victory while cruising for most of the game over the Cavaliers on Monday night.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

The under has been the play in the last five games for the Minnesota Timberwolves while also being the result in the majority of the last few games for the Cavaliers as well. In all, expect this to be yet another low-scoring and competitive match up as the Minnesota Timberwolves will slowly begin to pull away at some point. With that being the case, look for the total to not surpass its set limit in a slow, grinding matchup throughout.

Betting trends for Minnesota Timberwolves:

  • The Timberwolves are 5-3 ATS  in last 8 games

  • The under is 5-0 in Timberwolves last 5 games

Betting trends for Cleveland Cavaliers :

  • The Cavaliers are 5-3 ATS  elastic games

  • The under is 8-2 in Cavaliers last 10 games
