Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Oklahoma City Thunder

The Cleveland Cavaliers will travel to Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Cleveland Cavaliers  halted a two game winning streak by suffering a 102 – 95 home loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in their last outing as they possessed five players that scored in double-figures, yet shot horrible as a team  at 41% for the night en route to the loss.

On the other hand, the Oklahoma City Thunder halted a two-game winning streak by suffering a 105 – 98 home lost to the Denver Broncos on November 24th as both teams shot awful from the floor, yet the Nuggets were able to get five players in double figures with Jamal Murray scoring 22 points to lead the team along with having eight rebounds and eight assists on a night to where he went 9-23 from the field.

Cleveland Cavaliers's Latest Performance :

The Cleveland Cavaliers will also look to start a new winning streak of their own as their 2 game streak was halted due to a home lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in their last outing.  Kyle Korver and Rodney Hood led the team in scoring with 22 and 20 points, respectively, in the loss as the Cleveland Cavaliers were awful from the field in shooting 41% while allowing the Timberwolves to finish the game at 46% from the field.  Korver was 6-9 from 3-point range for the night while the rest of the team were 4-18 from long range.

On the other hand, the Cavaliers allowed five double-digit scores for Minnesota with Robert Covington leading the way with 24 points along with seven rebounds while Karl Anthony Towns finished 9-19 from the field with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the night.  It will be interesting to see how the loss will affect this Cleveland Cavaliers team that were on a high in averaging 119 points per game in their prior two outings,  only to be relegated to 95 points in their loss versus the Timberwolves.  The Cleveland Cavaliers will certainly look to get more offensive production from Tristan Thompson, who scored 16 points and 11 rebounds in their last loss, along with Collin Sexton and Larry Nance Jr as well.

Oklahoma City Thunder's Latest Performance :

The Oklahoma City struggled for the majority of the game versus the Denver Nuggets in their last time out as they shot 36% from the field while hitting only 9 of 39 3-point attempts for the night. Paul George led the team in scoring with 24 points along with 11 rebounds while Russell Westbrook  went 6-23 from the field while finishing with 16 points, 10 rebounds, along with 12 assists in the loss.  Said of the toughness of the Denver defense, coach Billy Donovan stated that ”I thought their physicality and their presence at the basket certainly overwhelmed us a little bit,’. ”When I say overwhelmed us, they were the aggressor. They were making an impact.”

With that being said, the Thunder will look to start a new winning streak starting on Wednesday night as they will certainly look to be the aggressive versus a struggling Cleveland Cavaliers team.  In all, the Oklahoma City Thunder are winners of five of their last seven games, overall, and will look to get back on track due to their ability to rebound after a loss.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

As stated, after a two-game winning streak, it will be interesting to see how the Cavaliers will show up to play in this matchup. Of course, they will be battling an Oklahoma City team that is very much looking to get back on the winning track after a loss at home versus a tough Denver Nuggets team. With that being the case, expect this to be a very competitive contest throughout as both teams will likely be looking to push the pace as often as possible.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Oklahoma City Thunder

My reason for the pick :

I will back the  Thunder in this instance as I believe that they will bounce back in winners fashion versus a Cleveland Cavaliers squad that continues to be up and down on the season. Their offense has struggled a bit too much for my liking while their defense continues to fade late in games, thus allowing opponents  to capitalize on the offensive end way too often. In all, expect Westbrook and George to lead the charge over the Cavaliers on Wednesday night while getting back into the win column in the meantime.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I look for the Oklahoma City Thunder to have a solid night on the offensive end as the Cavaliers are allowing team average 115 points per game in their last three road games. In fact, a visit from the Cavaliers can be a benefit to an Oklahoma City team that has only averaged 108 points in their last 5 home games. Combine this with the fact that the Thunder will be looking to atone for their last outing, look for the home team to run the  score up on the Cavs in this contest.
