Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Orlando Magic vs Portland Trailblazers

The Orlando Magic will continue their current west coast road trip as they will travel to the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Orlando Magic have lost three of four games after a 116 – 110 road loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday night as Nikola Vucevic ended the game with 30 points for the Magic, yet was outshined by Kevin Durant of the Warriors who ended the game with 49 points along with six rebounds and seven assists.

On the other hand, the Portland Trail Blazers have dropped three straight games with their last being a 104-100 home loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on November 25th as both teams were horrible from the field as they each shot 42% for the night; However,  the Trailblazers committed 12 turnovers for the night while being outrebounded 58-48 for the game. Damian Lillard however, scored 30 points on the night in going 12-27 from the field in the matchup while only going 3 – 13 from 3 point range. The Magic are winless against the spread in their last four meetings with the Trailblazers while the under has been the play in three of the last 5 meetings amongst these teams in Portland.

Orlando Magic's Latest Performance :

The Orlando Magic come into this matchup losers of three of their last four games, as stated. They will have had two days rest after playing a back-to-back series with the Los Angeles Lakers, a game in which they won, along with a loss to their last opponent in the Golden State Warriors, where they picked up a loss do to their inability to contain Kevin Durant.  Aside from Durant scoring 49 on the night, Klay Thompson also came up big in scoring 29 Points on 11-23 shooting from the field.

The Magic shot 44% from the field and led by Vucevic with 30 points on the night while Terrence Ross also had 28 points for the Magic in the loss. Aaron Gordon went 0- 6 from the field as he ended scoreless for the night. In all, the Orlando Magic find themselves in a position to where they certainly need their leadership to step up in which to allow for them to get a much-needed win. Of course, they will have to work for a victory in this instance as the Portland Trail Blazers will certainly  will be looking to atone for their disastrous play recently as well.

Portland Trailblazers's Latest Performance :

The Portland Trail Blazers have  took a turn for the worse in their last three outings is they have dropped all three by an average of 25 points per loss. In their last outing versus the Los Angeles Clippers, the Trail Blazers certainly had their chances in which to pick up a victory; Yet could not capitalize on offensive opportunities in the end.   Despite shooting 3-13 from 3-point range, Damian Lillard led the team with 30 points on the night while going 12-27 from the field.  CJ McCollum struggled in going 8-21 for the night yet finished with 18 points in the  loss.

Despite the loss of Jusuf Nurkic, who left the previous game with a shoulder injury, the Trailblazers were able to allow only 42% shootings to a high-scoring Los Angeles Clippers squad. Nonetheless, the Clippers were simply able to continue to make big shots down the stretch, which ultimately allowed them to seal the much-needed road victory. It will be interesting to see how Portland will respond to their first bit of adversity for 2018. Of course, they remain a good team, particularly with Lillard on the floor; However, they will need to get much more out of their team in which to get back on the winning track, starting with a win over a dangerous Magic team.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will certainly be an interesting matchup as you have two teams that are looking to erase the memory of a rough patch of basketball in there prior few outings. On one hand, you have the Portland Trail Blazers who are looking to get back on track after losing to quality competition in the Clippers, the Milwaukee Bucks, along with the Golden State Warriors lately.  On the other hand, the Orlando Magic has also fell to above-average teams in the Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors, along with the Denver Nuggets. Nonetheless, both teams will be looking to get back into the win column with a hard-fought victory on the Wednesday night.

Against The Spread Selection:   Pick: Portland Trail Blazers

My reason for the pick :

Portland is continuing to play hard despite a rough patch of basketball.  In fact, I have much confidence in this Portland team in that they possess a bona fide Superstar in Damian Lillard running the point guard that will ensure that he is putting his team in a position to win games, consistently. With that being the case, look for the Portland Trail Blazers to feed from his energy on Wednesday night as they take on a shaky Orlando Magic squad that has lost its footing lately, yet looking for a hard-court victory. Nonetheless, they will not obtain this goal in this matchup as the home team will certainly get back on the right track with a much-needed win.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I will pick the over in this matchup as the I certainly see both teams having decent nights offensively as both have been less than stellar in guarding their opponents, particularly from the perimeter, in recent matchups. With that being the case, look for both teams to shoot themselves out of a present funk in this matchup as well as Lillard and Company will shine at home while Aaron Gordon will also atone for a scoreless night in his previous outing.

Betting trends for Orlando Magic:

  • Under is 4-0 in Magic last 4 Wednesday games.
Magic are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
Magic are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.

Betting trends for Portland Trailblazers:

  • Portland Under is 4-0 in Trail Blazers last 4 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
Under is 6-0 in Trail Blazers last 6 home games.
Trail Blazers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
