Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Chicago Bulls vs Detroit Pistons

The Chicago Bulls will travel to Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, to take on the Detroit Pistons on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Chicago enters this matchup losers of four straight games with their last being a 116 – 113 road loss versus the Milwaukee Bucks. In this outing, the Bulls certainly played well enough to win, yet were outdone by a Khris Middleton three-pointer with only 5 seconds remaining in the game to seal the victory for the home team.

On the other hand, the Detroit Pistons are winners of three straight games after picking up a 115 – 108 home victory versus the struggling New York Knicks on November 27th as Blake Griffin put up 30 points on the night while Reggie Jackson scored 21 in the win. The Bulls are winless against the spread in the last four meetings in Detroit while the Bulls are also 5-11 against the spread in the last 16 meetings with Detroit, overall.

Chicago Bulls's Latest Performance :

Both Levine and Jabari Parker scored 24 points in their loss versus the Milwaukee Bucks while Ryan Arcidiacono also put in 20 points for the Bulls in a game where the team shot 44% from the field yet only 29% from 3 point range. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks with 36 points, 11 rebounds, along with eight assists while Middleton hit the game-winning 3-pointer in which to seal the victory for the home team.

The  the Bulls scored 40 points in the first quarter and looked as if they were on their way to having a solid night on the offensive end; However, the Bucks rallied in the second half thanks to Antetokounmpo who scored 20 points in the second half alone en route to the victory. The Bulls, however, are continuing to compete in games as four of their last five games were decided by 6 points or less. With that being the case, the they have to learn to buckle down on the defensive end to not allow for mistakes late in the game if they are to win consistently in 2018. Look for them to utilize this type of philosophy versus the Detroit Pistons in this Friday matchup.

Detroit Pistons 's Latest Performance :

While the Pistons remained third within the Central division of the Eastern Conference, they have won five of their last six games and are certainly playing great basketball at this time of season. This can be attributed to the play of not only Blake Griffin but of Reggie Jackson along with Andre Drummond as well. These three have combined to lead the team thus far as Griffin put in 30 points while Jackson ended with 21 points in their win versus the Knicks. And while Drummond struggled on the night in scoring only six points, he pulled down 14 rebounds in the winning effort.

On the defensive and they allowed the Knicks to shoot only 39% from the floor for the night while only nailing 33% of their 3-pointers. Tim Hardaway Jr led the Knicks in scoring with 19 points, yet only went 5-15 from the floor versus a tough, physical Detroit defense that locked down the offense for the Knicks throughout the contest. Said coach Dwane Casey after the game, ”We have to prove to our fans who we are and what we are, and make sure they are trusting to spend their hard-earned money,”.

With that being said, look for Detroit to come out to control the pace early versus a struggling Chicago team that is having identity issues at this point in the season as they are struggling to find a consistent scorer aside from Zach Lavine.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for the Bulls to come out with focus in this matchup as they are certainly encouraged by the way they have competed recently. Of course, this has not translated into wins this far, however, they will continue to trudge along in hopes that they will begin to build enough confidence in which to pull out victories moving forward. Detroit, on the other hand, will look to continue their stellar streak of basketball as of late by slowing the pace of this game down in the which to utilize their physical play both on offense as well as the defensive end of the court.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Detroit Pistons

My reason for the pick :

I will pick the Pistons in this matchup to come up with the victory as the combination of Griffin, Drummond, and Jackson and certainly paying dividends for the home team. With that being the case, as stated, look for the Pistons to employ a slower pace to this matchup versus the Bulls in hopes of allowing that to unleash their tough, physical style unto their opponent. I expect this philosophy to be successful on Friday night as the  Pistons will certainly come out victorious in the end.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

While the over has certainly been the play for Detroit in their last few games, I will pick the under in this contest due to the fact that the Bulls have certainly been competing hard versus their opponents, despite the result being losses. Look for both defenses to have solid nights in this contest as the Bulls will struggle from the field while Detroit, despite their success, will struggle as well as they are only ranked 28th in the league in field goal percentage  in shooting only 43% from the field per outing.

Betting trends for Chicago Bulls:

  • Under is 4-0 in Bulls last 4 games following a ATS win.
Under is 3-0-1 in Bulls last 4 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
Under is 3-0-1 in Bulls last 4 overall.

Betting trends for Detroit Pistons :
