Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Boston Celtics

The Cleveland Cavaliers will travel to TD Arena in Boston, Massachusetts, to face the Boston Celtics on Friday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. As we know, the Cavaliers are coming off a disaster season while also being losers of their last two games with the last being a 100 – 83 road loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder as Jordan Clarkson led Cleveland with 25 points while Collin Sexton also added 21 points in the loss. Kyle Korver was traded to Utah before the game, leaving Cleveland with only 9 players in uniform.

On the other hand, the Boston Celtics have struggled in 2018, yet have won two of their last three games with a 124 – 107 road win over the New Orleans Pelicans in their last time out as Kyrie Irving pumped in 26 points along with 10 assists in the win. The Cavaliers have covered the spread in four of the last 5 meetings versus the Celtics while the under has been the play in the last four meetings at TD Arena.

Cleveland Cavaliers 's Latest Performance :

Jordan Clarkston, and stated, led Cleveland with 25 points along with Sexton having 21 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for Cleveland versus Oklahoma City. As stated, one of their most dangerous Shooters in Kyle Korver was traded to Utah before the game as the team was certainly short-handed. This played a role in the play for the Cavaliers early on, yet Cleveland managed to build a 55-51 lead in the third quarter when Westbrook began  a 13-0 run while also ultimately putting the Thunder up by a 64-55 score en route to the victory.

The Cavaliers only shot 39% for the game while the Thunder, despite going 6-4 27 from 3-point range, shot 47% for the game as Jerami Grant and Paul George chipped in 21 and 18 points for the Thunder in the victory. ”I just thought they physically wore us down,” Cleveland coach Larry Drew said. ”They wore us down and our execution wasn’t as good in the second half as it was in the first. We kind of looked like we were tired in that second half. They took away our ability to move and to try to make plays.”

Cleveland will look to make some headway versus a Boston team that, despite their winning ways recently, have been known to struggle offensively in 2018.

Boston Celtics's Latest Performance :

The Boston Celtics are  slowly beginning to come back to life after a disastrous start to the season as they have won two of their last three games, as stated, and are looking for yet another win over the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night. In their last outing, Kyrie Irving was the man in scoring 26 points along with 10 rebounds as the Celtics shot 50% for the night while nailing 19 – 39 three-pointers. On the other hand, the struggling Pelicans finish the night shooting only  44% from the field with Anthony Davis and Nikola Mirotic chipping in 27 and 25 points, respectively.

Aside from Irving, the Celtics also had 20 point contributions from Al Horford along with Jayson Tatum while Marcus Morris scored 19 points along with pulling down 11 rebounds for the Celtics in the much-needed win. The Celtics look to keep this momentum going as they are currently third place within the Atlantic division behind the Sixers along with the Raptors. A matchup with Cleveland can certainly be the cure to their ills if they are able to remain consistent.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Boston Celtics will definitely need to pick up a win in this matchup over the Cleveland Cavaliers after their convincing win over the Pelicans in their last outing. On the other hand, the Cavaliers would like to also pick up a much-needed win in which to halt a current two-game losing streak, in the meantime. In all, look for this to be an up-and-down game to where the Celtics will look to get their offense kick-started by pushing the ball early and often versus a short-handed Cleveland team that will be looking to give a much better effort on Friday night.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Boston Celtics

My reason for the pick :

Again, Kyrie Irving is returning to form, slowly but surely, which means that the Celtics will indeed play better moving forward. It is for this reason that I will back the Celtics in this matchup as the Cavaliers are not only short-handed, but, are also reeling from a lack of offensive output. Of course, the Cavaliers have been stingy on the defensive side of the ball in 2018, however, this night will be long to Boston from the start as they will pull out a convincing win on Friday night.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I will back to over in this contest as it has been the play in four of the last five games for the Boston Celtics while also being the result in two of the last three road games for the Cleveland Cavaliers. With that being the case, look for the total score for this matchup to balloon during the course of the game in favor of the home team as I fully expect the Celtics to have a decent night on the offensive end.

Betting trends for Boston Celtics:

Celtics are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up win of more than 10 points.
