Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Orlando Magic vs Phoenix Suns

The Orlando Magic will travel to Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona, to battle the Phoenix Suns on Friday night at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Magic comes into this game losers of two straight games as they fell by a 115 – 112 score on the road to the Portland Trail Blazers in their last time out as they had no answers for point guard Damian Lillard, who ended the game with 41 points along with nailing 10 threes on the night.

On the other hand, the Phoenix Suns are losers of three straight games as they fell to the Los Angeles Clippers in their last matchup by a 115 – 99 score as the Suns lost their sixth road game in seven outings, overall. The Magic  have covered the spread in their last four meetings in Phoenix while the under has been the play in six of the last 8 games versus the Phoenix Suns at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Orlando Magic 's Latest Performance :

The Orlando Magic have had a disastrous six game road trip thus far as they  are losers of three of four games with a matchup versus the Suns followed by the Miami Heat to conclude the trip, altogether. During this time, the Magic have only averaged 98 points per game while allowing opponents to put up an average of 113 points per outing. In their last game versus the Portland Trail Blazers, the home team was allowed to shoot 19 of 39 from 3-point range as Damian Lillard went 10-15 from long range for the night while ending with 41 points to led the Blazers in scoring.

The Magic, on the other hand, shot well from the field in going 52% for the night while connecting on 46% of their 3-point attempts;  Nonetheless, their efforts to get back into the game came up empty as Lillard hit a floater with less than one minute remaining to give Portland a 113 – 100 lead, thus sealing the victory. Of course, the Magic certainly competed for 48 minutes in this matchup, however, did not pick up the all-important win. They will certainly be looking to take the positives from their loss to the Blazers into Friday’s matchup versus the Suns.

Phoenix Suns's Latest Performance :

The Suns  played well in the first half of their contest versus the Clippers as they were knotted at 49 at the half;  However, the Clippers began the third quarter on a 20-4 run over a five-minute stretch to open their lead to 20 points. ”The third quarter was brutal. We couldn’t find the rhythm and the stops. We were taking individual action, which isn’t the way to win,” Suns coach Igor Kokoskov said.   Nonetheless, Devin Booker led the Suns with 23 points while Elie Okobo added 19 points for Phoenix in the loss as well.

On the defensive end, Phoenix not only allowed the Clippers to shoot 47% from the field on the night, but, also allowed the home team to shoot 52% from 3 point range as six Clippers scored in double figures on the night with Danilo Gallinari leading the way with 28 points along with 10 rebounds while Lou Williams came off the bench to score 20 points for the Clippers. In all, the Suns have lost six of their last seven while losing their last two home games as well, yet, only an average of 7 points. They will certainly look to get back on track versus they struggling Magic on Friday night, however, must be able to get more contributions from other players on the offensive end in which to come out victorious.

How Orlando Magic & Phoenix Suns Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Orlando is 13 – 9 ATS while the OU is  9 – 13

Phoenix is 8 – 13 ATS while the OU is  9 – 12

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

As stated, the current road trip for the Magic has been disastrous as they have dropped game after game due to inconsistencies on the offensive end. However, versus the Trailblazers, Orlando had six players score in double-digits while remaining competitive throughout. This could very well be a good sign for Orlando that they are slowly coming out of their current Funk. Phoenix ,on the other hand, has a young nucleus of talented players, however, they have not meshed properly as of yet as they continue to drop games. With that being said, look for both teams to come out focused in this matchup as I expect an up-and-down, competitive game throughout.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Orlando Magic

My reason for the pick :

While their last outing ended in a loss, expect the Magic to come out in this game and atone for their lackluster play as it relates to their current road trip. With the Suns struggling on the defensive end currently, expect the visitors to really take advantage of this early and often as they will pull away at some point in this contest en route to a dominating victory on Friday night.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

Again, there were many positives for the Magic in their loss to Portland. One of those positives happens to be the fact that there was much more offensive production from the players within their lineup. With that being the case, look for there to be a carry-over effect for this matchup as the Orlando Magic will have a solid night on the offensive end. Again, the Phoenix Suns are continuing to stink it up on the defensive end and one can certainly expect the total to surpass its limit as the Magic, despite allowing only 109 points per game, allows opponents to shoot over 46% from the floor per night.

Betting trends for Orlando Magic :

  • Magic are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 1 days rest.
Magic are 9-0 ATS in their last 9 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
Magic are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.

Betting trends for Phoenix Suns:

  • Under is 4-0 in Suns last 4 vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
Under is 7-1 in Suns last 8 home games.
Suns are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
