Portland Trailblazers vs San Antonio Spurs
The AT&T Center will play host to the Portland Trailblazers who are in town to take on the San Antonio Spurs for a Sunday night match-up. These two Western Conference rivals met early in the season with the Trailblazers taking the win 121-108. In seasons past, the roles are usually reversed with the Spurs being the dominant force in the West. This season, they are struggling to get back to .500 and are in the bottom of the conference with teams like the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets. The Trailablazers are sitting in the fifth spot having gone 5-5 in their last ten and trying to build on a one-game win streak and erase the 1.5 games between them and the first place LA Clippers.
Portland Trailblazers's Latest Performance :
The Portalnd Trailblazers are playing well and competing for a top spot in the West. They have been up and down in their past ten games with room for improvement. Coach Terry Stotts was close to losing a fourth game in a row against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night but lucky for Stotts, his point guard Damian Lillard went off for 41 points with a franchise record setting 10 three pointers to help save the day. If he can play like that on a consistent basis with supoort from guys like CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic, the Blazers could very well be a reall threat come playoff time.
San Antonio Spurs's Latest Performance :
The San Antonio Spurs are currently the 28th ranked defense in the league and have given Greg Popavich many sleepless nights as one of the NBA’s best defensive minds. The loss of Kawhi Leonard hasn’t helped much on that side of the ball, but at least the addition of DeMar DeRozen has added 27 points per game to the mix. LeMarcus Aldridge has added to the stats scoring just under 18 points per game with 10 rebounds. They have talent and Popavich just needs to figure out how best to utilize them to get the team back to their winning ways.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Trailblazers are clearly the better team in this match-up. The San Antonio Spurs are doing a bit of soul searching and are fortunate to have one of the best NBA coaches in history at the helm. Popavich knows how to win and at some point this season, will figure out that formula with the team he’s been left with after the Leonard debacle and subsequent trade to the Toronto Raptors. Pau Gasol’s stress fracture has certainly been another blow to the roster, so if they can weather the storm until all the pieces are back in place, they may be able to stay around long enough to make the playoffs.
