Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Los Angeles Clippers vs New Orleans Pelicans

Los Angeles Clippers will travel to Smoothie King arena in New Orleans, Louisiana, to battle the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The New Orleans Pelicans proceeded to go winless in their last four road games as they suffered a 106 – 101 road loss to the Miami Heat in their last outing as they were down by as many as 31 points during the contest as a late second-half rally fell short as the Heat were able to hit some buckets along with free throws down the stretch in which to pick up the victory.

On the other hand, the Los Angeles Clippers continue to win as they won their  4th straight game versus the Sacramento Kings on November 29th by a 133 – 121 score as Tobias Harris led the team with 28 points on 11 – 17 shooting from the field along with six rebounds and four assists. The under has been to play in the last four meetings in New Orleans amongst these two teams while it has been the result in five of the last six meetings, overall. The Clippers, on the other hand, are 1 – 5 against the spread in the last six meetings versus New Orleans.

Los Angeles Clippers's Latest Performance :

The Clippers come into this matchup on different sides of the spectrum as they are winners of four straight games as Harris continues to impress in 2018 in leading the team with 26 points per game along with nine rebounds. As stated, he led the team with 28 points in their last outing versus the Sacramento Kings while Avery Bradley and Danilo Gallinari chipped in 16 points apiece for the Clippers in the all-important victory.

And while the Kings were only 7 – 24 from 3-point range, they shot 47% from the field for the night with Willie Cauley-Stein and De’Aaron Fox leading the team with 16 points apiece. Their game versus New Orleans will be their third of a four-game road trip that they will end with a battle with Memphis on December 5th. It will be important to note that the Clippers will be getting New Orleans on the second end of a back-to-back on Monday night. With that being the case, look for fatigue to certainly play a potential factor, despite the youth that Los Angeles possesses.

New Orleans Pelicans's Latest Performance :

New Orleans continues to struggle on the  offensive end at this point in the season. These struggles certainly continued versus the Miami Heat on the road in their last outing as they only scored 17 points in the first quarter compared to giving up 37 points to a struggling Knicks team while ending the game shooting only 41% from the floor along with nailing 6 of 28 3-point attempts in the loss. Anthony Davis scored 41 points for the Pelicans in the loss while Nikola Mirotic added 15 points in the loss for a Pelican squad that has dropped five of their last six games, overall.

The defense for New Orleans allowed the Heat to shoot 43% from the floor while Miami hit  11 3-pointers on the night en route to the victory. In all, as stated, New Orleans has had trouble on the offensive end during their current losing streak and are searching to find more consistent scorers aside from Davis and Mirotic. On the other hand, they have also struggled on the defensive end as well as they continue to allow teams to score a tad over 117 points per game in 2018.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

In all, the Clippers are playing outstanding ball at this point in the season and will certainly look to continue this on the road versus a struggling New Orleans team on Monday night. Also, New Orleans will  be looking to halt a devastating losing streak as they continue to struggle on the offensive and defensive end. Look for this to be an exciting match up throughout as one can expect the home team to come out fighting in which to halt a losing streak while the Clippers will look to keep that losing streak intact while continuing to play  well led by Harris and Gallinari.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:    New Orleans  Pelicans

My reason for the pick :

While the Clippers have been playing Outstanding basketball recently, I will back the New Orleans Pelicans in this matchup simply due to the fact that the Clippers will indeed be coming  into this game on the tail end of a back-to-back. Interesting enough, the Pelicans will also be coming into this game on the tail end of the back-to-back as well; However, I will back them due to the fact that they will be playing at home where they are winners of four of their last five games, overall.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

The over has been the play in four of the last 5 home games for the New Orleans Pelicans while also being the result in four of the last 5 road games for the Los Angeles Clippers. Combine this with the fact that the Clippers are certainly beginning to find their mojo on the offensive end along with the Pelicans being very generous on the defensive end all season, one can only conclude that the over is indeed the strong and logical pick in this matchup on Monday night.
