Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Washington Wizards vs New York Knicks

The Washington Wizards will travel to New York City on Monday night  to battle the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Both teams come into this game halting two game losing streaks as the Washington Wizards were able to pick up a win versus a struggling Brooklyn Nets team at home as John Wall put up 30 points for the night while also having 9 assists in the much-needed victory.

The New York Knicks picked up a win over the Milwaukee Bucks at home on Saturday night as Emmanuel Mudiay scored 28 points for the Knicks in an overtime win over Milwaukee on a night where they were on fire from the field while also nailing 23 pointers for the contest. The Wizards are 7-1 against spread in the last 8 meetings at Madison Square Garden while they are winners against the spread in 8 of the last ten games versus the Knicks, overall.

Washington Wizards's Latest Performance :

The Washington Wizards have struggled thus far in their 2018 campaign as well. And while their struggles have not been as frequent as New York, the Wizards are coming into this game losers of five of their last nine games; Nonetheless, they picked up a win over the struggling Brooklyn Nets in their last match up as they were also red-hot from the field in shooting over 50% for the night as John Wall pumped in 30 points along with eight assists to lead the team to victory. Wall also shot 3-6 from 3-point range while the team shot only 8 for 36 for the night from long range.

Bradley Beal and Markieff Morris ended the game with 22 and 20 points, respectively, as Beal struggled from the field all night in going 8 – 27  from the floor. The Wizards also had one of their better defensive performances as they held the Brooklyn Nets to only 37% shooting from the field along with 24% shooting from long-range as Alex Crabbe led the team with 14 points while De’Angelo Russell went 3 or 8 for the night and ending with 8 points. On the other hand, Russell had seven assists on the night, to his credit. The Wizards will certainly need to continue this type of play moving forward as they will now be faced with a challenge in battling a similar team in the Knicks that is not only coming off a confidence-building win, but, were also on fire from the field in their last outing.

New York Knicks's Latest Performance :

During their prior two game losing streak, the Knicks were averaging only 98 points per game while allowing their opponents to score an average of 116 points per.  In their last outing, they scored 136 points on a Bucks team that came into the game very solid at the defensive end. Nonetheless, one could not see this versus a New York Knicks squad that shot over 50% from the field as well as from 3-point range as the team put up 23 pointers on the night. The Knicks had four 20-point scorers led by Mudiay  with 28th, as stated, while Kevin Knox and Tim Hardaway Jr chipped in 26 and 21 points, respectively in the win. Damyian Dotson also went 5-5 from 3-point range ending with 21 points for New York in a much-needed win.

The defense, on the other hand, also allowed the Bucks to shoot well from the floor for the night and they ended going 49% from the field while shooting 18 – 42 from 3-point range. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 33 point, 19 rebounds, along with seven assists while Eric Bledsoe chipped in 27 in the loss. In all, the  Knicks certainly picked up an important win in their last contest.  Also, due to the shakiness with which the Wizards have played thus far in the season, they may indeed have the inside track on picking up their second straight win on Monday night.

How Washington Wizards & New York Knicks Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Washington is 9 – 14 ATS while the OU is 14 – 9

New York is 13 – 10 – 1 ATS while the OU is 14-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

It will certainly be interesting to see how both teams perform in this matchup as it will be imperative to obtain a great start on Monday night. With that being the case, look for both teams to push the pace a bit early on in which to get going on the offensive end. Wall is coming off of a great game while the Knicks also played very well versus the Milwaukee Bucks in the last outing. It is for this reason that this game will be a competitive and potentially high scoring matchup to where the momentum will swing back and forth, throughout.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   New York Knicks

My reason for the pick :

While the Wizards picked up a much-needed win in their last match up and played very well, I might add, I will back to the Knicks in this matchup as  they have won four of their last six games, overall, while the Wizards, despite their last win versus the lowly Nets, continue to struggle on both ends of the floor. With that being the case, look for the Knicks to pull out a slim victory as winning close at home has become the mantra  as each of their last three home games were decided by five points or less.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I will back to over in this contest as I see both teams having a carry-over effect from a very solid night shooting from the floor in their last outing(s). With that being the case, the over is indeed the strong play as has been the case in two of the last three home games for the Knicks while being the play in five of the last eight games, overall, for the Wizards.

Under is 4-0-1 in Wizards last 5 games following a straight up win of more than 10 points.

Betting trends for New York Knicks:

Knicks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
