Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Los Angeles Clippers vs Memphis Grizzlies

The Los Angeles Clippers will travel to FedEx forum in Nashville, Tennessee, to battle the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Grizzlies continue their losing skid as they came up short on the road versus the Philadelphia 76ers in the last outing in suffering the 103 – 95 loss as the offense continued to struggle in shooting only 41% for the night as the Grizzlies suffered their fourth loss in five games, overall.

The Los Angeles Clippers continue their winning ways on the road versus the New Orleans Pelicans as they picked up the 129 – 126 win in their last outing as they shot well over 50% from the floor for the night while Getting 27 and 24 points, respectively, from Tobias Harris and Danillo Gallinari. The Clippers have covered the spread in 3 of the last 4 games versus the Grizzlies in Nashville while the over has been the play in 7 of the last 8 meetings, overall, amongst these two teams.

Los Angeles Clippers's Latest Performance :

The Los Angeles Clippers continued to roll along this season as they have won five of their last six games due to their ability to remain consistent on both sides of the floor. During their current winning streak, the Clippers offense is scoring an average of 122 points per game while the defense is allowing opponents 118 points for outings. And while the defense can, and will, certainly shore up present vulnerabilities over time, the play of Danilo Gallinari along with Tobias Harris continues to spearhead the Clippers in picking up victories early on in the season has they had 27 and 24 points  in their last win versus the New Orleans Pelicans as Harris sealed the victory by nailing two free throws with just five seconds remaining in the game for the Clippers.

Guard Lou Williams also had a big shot down the stretch and he ended with 20 points on the night for the Clippers and after the game stated, ”We’ve had a bunch of close games.” ”If you’re going to compete in the Western Conference – there’s a lot of talented teams – you’re going to have to be able to do that,” Williams continued. ”So, I think that was good for us.”

With that being the case, the Clippers look to have yet another competitive and physical matchup versus the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night as they will certainly be looking to continue their success while wrapping up their current four-game road trip in going 3-1.

Memphis Grizzlies 's Latest Performance :

Aside from scoring 131 points on the road versus an awful Brooklyn Nets team, the Memphis Grizzlies have struggled on offense recently and this was illustrated well in their last outing versus the Philadelphia 76ers as they shot 41% for the night while going 11-28 from 3-point range for the game. The Grizzlies were also outrebounded in this matchup by a 44-30 5 margin as they were led on offense by Mike Conley who scored 21 points on the night yet only going 6-17 from the field. Jaren Jackson Jr pumped in 17 points for the Grizzlies in the loss while Mike Conley went 4-14 from the floor while ending with 14 points.

Memphis allowed the Sixers to shoot  49% from the floor on the night while JJ Redick shot 3 from 6 3-point range ending with 24 points on the night while Jimmy Butler chipped in 21 points in the win as well. Joel Embiid struggled in this game in going 4-13 from the field while ending with 15 points along with 14 rebounds. Memphis offensive struggles have been very apparent in their last few outings yet they must, however, get back to their slow, physical style of play while also becoming more efficient on the offensive end in which to erect themselves out of their current losing skid. And while the Clippers are allowing teams to score 113 points per outing, they are no slouch in shooting percentages as they are allowing teams to shoot 44% from the field along with only 33% from 3 point range, good for 3rd and 6th in the league.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for this to be a very competitive match up as the Clippers have played outstanding ball lately and will welcome the opportunity any which to visit a Memphis Grizzlies squad that is struggling, primarily on the offensive end, and in desperate need of a win. As stated, expect the home team to get back to their physical style of play in this matchup while the Clippers will look to push the pace a bit in which to catch Memphis on their heels on the defensive end.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Los Angeles Clippers

My reason for the pick :

The Grizzlies have dropped a bunch of games lately due to their inability to remain consistent on the offensive end. Of course, Conley along with Gasol will bring their A game on a nightly basis, however, it has been very difficult for the Grizzlies to find an additional scorer that can possibly lift some of the scoring burden from these two stars. Nonetheless, the Clippers will certainly neutralize the offense for Memphis, once again, while also getting out on the break early and often in which to get some easy points in transition en route to a huge road victory.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the under in this matchup as the Memphis Grizzlies have played solid on the defensive end despite their lack of offensive production. With that being the case, look for them to give up some points to the visiting Clippers yet not enough for the total to be threatened in this matchup. Of course, look for Memphis to attempt to keep this game low-scoring throughout as the under has been the play in two of their last three home games, overall.

Betting trends for Memphis Grizzlies :

  • Grizzlies are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 2 days rest.
Over is 5-0 in Grizzlies last 5 vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
Grizzlies are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
