Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Washington Wizards vs Atlanta Hawks

The Washington Wizards will travel to State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, to battle the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Wizards are winners of their last two games as they picked up a win over the New York Knicks in their last outing by a 110 – 107 score on the road as  Bradley Beal scored 27 points for the game while Kelly Oubre Jr scored 21 off the bench for the Wizards in the win.

On the other hand, the Atlanta Hawks were 128 – 111 losers to the Golden State Warriors at home and their last outing as John Collins led the team with 24 points along with 11 rebounds in the losing effort while Trae Young had 7 turnovers yet ended the game with 20 points. The over has been the play in 13 of the last 18 meetings amongst these teams at State Farm Arena.

Washington Wizards's Latest Performance :

The Washington Wizards won only their third road game in 2018 as they took out the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on December 3rd  has Bradley Beal led the team with 27 points while John Wall added 18 points along with 15 assists for a Wizards team that shot 48% from the field for the night while nailing 13 3-pointers. And while the Knicks nailed 12 three-pointers during the contest, they were relegated to only 41% shooting from the floor with Tim Hardaway Jr leading the team with 21 points while also going 4-9 from 3-point range in the contest.

And despite the Wizards going down at the half by a 61-50 to score, they came out in the third quarter On a 28-8 run in which gave much confidence to the Washington offense en route to the victory. They will certainly be looking to keep their winning streak going versus the Atlanta Hawks in this matchup as the Hawks have not been effective at all on either side of the ball while being 1-5 in their last  six home games, overall.

Atlanta Hawks 's Latest Performance :

Atlanta not only continues to struggle on the offensive end, but, have also stunk it up on the defensive end as well as they are allowing teams to score ad average of 117 points per game in their last three outings. They allowed 128 points to the Golden State Warriors in their last matchup has Kevin Durant scored 28 points while Steph Curry along with Klay Thompson chipped in 30 and 27 points, respectively, for the Warriors as they went 1-2 in their current  five-game road trip.

The Hawks on the other hand, dropped their third straight game as John Collins continued to be the lone bright spot for the Hawks in ending with a double-double on the night. And while Trae Young was the second leading scorer for Atlanta, he really needs to cut down on turnovers as he committed seven on the night vs Golden State. Finally, the Hawks were awful on the defensive end as they allowed Golden State to shoot 59% from the floor while allowing them to make 13 of 24 3-point attempts on the night. The Hawks will look to cut down on their mistakes while shoring up vulnerabilities within the defensive end of the floor versus a Washington team that continues to win despite their offense averaging 107 points per game during their current game winning streak.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for this to be a competitive yet low scoring match up amongst two teams that are up and down offensively at the time while their defenses have been known to give up bunches of points. The only difference in this matchup is that both Atlanta and Washington have shot so terribly lately, that one will not expect them to take advantage of nearly enough of their opportunities at the offensive end throughout. With that being said, this game will remain an exciting one in that it will be interesting to see how the Wizards will perform after putting two wins in a row under their belt. On the other hand, it will also be interesting to see how the Hawks refocus after a blowout loss vs Golden State.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Washington Wizards

My reason for the pick :

While the Hawks will certainly be looking to perform much better than  what they illustrated versus Golden State in their last outing, I happen to believe that the Washington Wizards will have just enough in which to pull out a victory in this matchup. Of course, the Wizards have struggled on the offensive end much like the Hawks; However, look for the road team to continue their current four-game road trip in going 2-0 as they will pull away from the Hawks late in this matchup while picking up a much-needed victories.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I will pick the over in this matchup as it has been the play in four of the last 5 home games for the Atlanta Hawks, primarily due to the Hawks inability to play any semblance of defense at State Farm Arena thus far in the season. With that being the case, also look for the Wizards to perform well offensively in this matchup versus the Hawks as they will certainly be wanting to extend their winning streak to three games.
