Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Brooklyn Nets vs Chicago Bulls
The Brooklyn Nets will travel to United Center in Chicago, Illinois, to battle the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Bulls could not extend their momentum from a win over the San Antonio Spurs in their prior outing as they picked up the loss versus the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road in their most recent outing by suffering the 121 – 96 loss as Chicago only scored 44 points, total, during the first half while allowing 64 points to the Thunder as they would shoot only 44% for the night while allowing Oklahoma City to shoot 47% during the contest en route to the defeat.
Brooklyn is not only on a five-game winning streak, but their offense has awaken as well as they pumped in 144 points at home versus the Atlanta Hawks in their last victory as D’Angelo Russell pumped in 32 points for Brooklyn as the team as put up at least 125 points in their last three outings, overall. The Nets are 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings with the Chicago Bulls while the under has been the play in six of the last eight meetings amongst these two teams at United Center.
Brooklyn Nets's Latest Performance :
As stated, Brooklyn has won five straight games to where they were averaging 125 points in their last three games, alone. Furthermore, in their outing versus the Atlanta Hawks, the Nets increased their overall point total for the season in putting up 144 points while hitting 16 3-pointers on the night in addition to shooting a tad under 56% from the floor as D’Angelo Russell pumped in 32 points, six rebounds, along with seven assists while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had 18 points on the night as the Nets possessed eight double-digit scorers on the night.
And while the defense for the Nets also allowed the Hawks to shoot over 50% on the night, the Brooklyn Nets remain focused, even after the Hawks tightened the lead to only two points in the third quarter, while remaining consistent on the offensive end while cruising to the blowout victory. Allen Crabbe has missed the last two games for the Nets and is uncertain to suit up in this matchup for Brooklyn; Nonetheless, if Brooklyn continues to perform the way they are at this point in the season, they may be okay as they now look to make some headway within their division with the Boston Celtics only five games out of their sites.
Chicago Bulls's Latest Performance :
The Chicago Bulls kept their streak alive as it relates to the number of games to where they failed to reach the 100 point mark for a game as it is now at five, total, as the Bulls were only able to put up 96 points in their last outing on the road versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. For the game, Chicago shot 44% from the floor, as stated, while connecting on only eight of 22 attempts from three-point range as they allowed the Thunder to have a hot shooting first half en route to cruising to the home victory.
Lauri Markkanen came up big for Chicago on the night as he scored 16 points along with having 15 rebounds while Bobby Portis also added 16 points off the bench yet had five turnovers in the contest. Kris Dunn ended with 12 points along with seven assist as he went 5-8 from the floor while Zach Lavine along with Jabari Parker did not play due to a knee injury along with an illness. There is no timetable for Levine’s return to the lineup at this point.
Nonetheless, the defense for Chicago continues to be solid despite allowing the Oklahoma City to shoot 47% from the floor yet Russell Westbrook struggled, once again, from the field in scoring 13 points along with 16 rebounds, along with 11 assists for yet another triple-double on the season. Paul George only went 8-19 from the floor for Oklahoma City yet led the team with 24 points, six rebounds, along with four assists while Steven Adams pumped in 19 points along with eight rebounds. Once again, while Chicago’s defense has certainly been the better of the two in 2018, the Bulls allowed Oklahoma City to go on a 23-7 run in the second quarter which ultimately sealed their fate in the end.
In all, the mantra has been the same for Chicago throughout the season as they have had to endure mental lapses on both sides of the floor. Nonetheless, they will be looking to get back on track versus a Brooklyn team that has suddenly begun to light it up on the offensive end the floor, thus posing a severe challenge to Chicago’s defense in this matchup on Wednesday night.
How Brooklyn Nets & Chicago Bulls Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Brooklyn is 16 – 15 ATS while the OU is 16 – 15
Chicago is 14 – 17 ATS while the OU is 10 – 20
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will be an interesting game in that the Brooklyn Nets will be looking to extend their current success versus a Chicago team that continues to struggle on both sides of the ball, albeit, more so on the offensive end. Chicago, on the other hand, will like to string together some wins as they are losers of four of their last five, overall. With that being said, look for the Bulls to continue to push the pace in this game as they may indeed have some success versus the Nets on the offensive end as, despite their offensive output in their recent outings, the Nets are allowing teams to score an average of 122 points per game also in their last three contests.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Brooklyn Nets
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Nets in this matchup as they have certainly been playing well in their last few outings, overall. And with D’Angelo Russell continuing to step up as the leader of this team, who knows how far this team can really go. With that being the case, they will be battling a Chicago Bulls team that, as stated, continue struggle on the offensive end, while their defense remains solid, for the most part. Nonetheless, the Brooklyn Nets will find some headway versus this defense on this night while the offense will continue to struggle for Chicago, despite the Nets being known to give up points all season.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
The under has been the play in two of the last three games on the road for the Brooklyn Nets while also being the result in two of the last three games at home for the Chicago Bulls. Combine this with the fact that the Bulls continue to struggle on the offensive end, while the offense for the Nets will be matched up versus a Chicago Bulls defense that has limited opposing offenses to less than 100 points in two of their last three outings, overall, the under will indeed be the strong play in this matchup.
