Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Milwaukee Bucks vs New York Knicks

The Milwaukee Bucks will travel to Madison Square Garden in New York City, to battle the New York Knicks on Christmas Day at 12 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Knicks have fell by the wayside lately as they have lost  four straight games as their last defeat came at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks as the Knicks were not able to capitalize off a hot-shooting first quarter to where they went up by 11 points; Yet, the road team allowed them to score only 38 points in the  second half, altogether, in which to suffer the loss.

On the other hand, the Milwaukee Bucks were not able to capitalize off their momentum of beating the Boston Celtics in their prior outing as they fell to the Miami Heat in what was a low-scoring matchup throughout to where the Bucks shot 37% from the field yet were led by Khris Middleton along with Eric Bledsoe in the losing effort as they chipped in 18 and 17 points, respectively. The  under has been the play in 10 of the last fourteen meetings amongst these two teams at Madison Square Garden.

Milwaukee Bucks's Latest Performance :

The Milwaukee Bucks were not able to get anything going on the offensive end versus the Miami Heat in their last matchup as they shot 34% on the night while nailing only 8 of 43 three pointers as they only scored 8 points in the first quarter while recovering in the second quarter in which to outscore the home team by a 30 – 16 margin to go up by one point at the half.  Miami then came out in the third quarter  to outscore the Bucks 35-20 and, despite a late run by the road team in the fourth quarter, the Heat were able to pull out an all important victory, while handing the Bucks only their first loss in their last five outings, overall.

Giannis Antetokounmpo struggled in the contest in going 3-13 from the floor while ending with nine points along with pulling down 14 rebounds while Khris Middleton, as stated, led the team with 18 points along with seven rebounds and four assists. On the other hand, Eric Bledsoe finished with 17 points along with six rebounds in addition to three turnovers for Milwaukee in the contest.   On the other hand, the defense for the Bucks was very solid as they allowed the Heat to shoot only 38% from the floor as the home team was led by Josh Richardson, who had 22 points while Dwyane Wade scored 13 points along with pulling down nine rebounds off the bench an Heat team that continues to struggle on the offensive end.

In all, Milwaukee will certainly like to end their short, three-game road trip on a winning note as they will look to pick up a win versus a Knicks squad that has struggled on both ends of the floor lately. Fortunately for Milwaukee, they will play their next four games on their home court which will allow them to pick up some wins in their own backyard in which two create some space between second and third place  division teams in the Indiana Pacers along with the Detroit Pistons.

New York Knicks's Latest Performance :

During a disastrous four-game skid, the New York Knicks offenses fell back to sub mediocrity as they are only putting up an average of 104 points per game. On the other hand, the defense has been atrocious as well as they are allowing teams to put up 120 points per game. In their last outing, they allowed the horrible Atlanta Hawks, whose offense has been surging lately, to put up 114 points as the visitors shot 47% from the floor on the night while nailing 10 3-pointers as, despite having 16 turnovers are the night, the Hawks heavily outrebounded the New York Knicks during the contest while also dishing out a whopping 29 assists.

Kent Bazemore had 22 points to lead Atlanta in the contest as he went 7-16 from the floor while also pulling down six rebounds while John Collins continued his Double-Double streak as he added 17 points along with 16 rebounds and four assists for the Hawks. On the other hand, Emmanuel Mudiay put up 32 points for the Knicks while Kevin Knox also continued his outstanding stretch of shooting as he chipped in 24 points while also having seven rebounds as he went 3-7 from long-range on the night. Finally, Tim Hardaway Jr finished the game with 15 points on for 4-10 shooting from the field while also dishing out five assists for the Knicks, who shot a decent 48% from the floor on the night yet only connected on 8 of 29 3-point attempts as a team.

This has been the mantra for New York during their four-game losing streak.  On one hand, their offense has not been able to remain consistency while their defense continues to have mental breakdowns at pivotal points in the game, thus lending to losses. Nonetheless, they look to reverse the trends in this matchup versus a Milwaukee Bucks team that has gained some momentum lately, however, suffered a huge setback to a defensive-minded Heat team on the road to go to .500 on their recent three game road trip.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will certainly be an exciting match-up as the Milwaukee Bucks will be looking to end their current three-game road trip on a positive note by picking up a win over a reeling New York Knicks squad. On the other hand, New York will look to get back onto the winning track after a deflating loss at home versus the Atlanta Hawks to where their defense was nonexistent. Expect an up and down matchup from the  start as the Knicks will look to push the pace in which the kick-start their offense after a decent shooting night. On the other hand, the Bucks will be looking to push the pace in which to atone for a lackluster shooting night versus a defensive-minded Miami Heat team.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Milwaukee Bucks

My reason for the pick :

Look for the Bucks to take control of this game early and often versus a Knicks team that has not been able to play any semblance of defense vs opponents lately. Of course, Milwaukee was certainly bring their A-game and focus into this matchup in that they will be looking to get back on the winning track after a horrible performance versus the Miami Heat in their last time out, as stated. In all,  look for the Milwaukee to exert themselves on the defensive end as this will certainly lead to easy buckets in transition throughout this game as they will pull out a convincing victory over struggling New York Knicks squad on Christmas Day.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

Being that the Bucks put in a truly dismal performance on the offensive end vs Miami, I will look for them to push the pace consistently in this matchup versus the New York Knicks team that is currently struggling on the defensive end of the floor, in which to pull out a high-scoring victory in this matchup. It is for this reason that I believe that the  over is the strong play in this instance as the visitors will be looking to build some confidence after a deflating loss by revving up their offensive attack while also playing solid on the defensive end throughout. In all, to look for the score board to swell on behalf of the road team in this matchup as the total will certainly surpass its set limit for this matchup.
