Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Orlando Magic vs Utah Jazz
Orlando Magic will travel to Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah to battle of the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Just when the Utah Jazz had begun to gain a bit of momentum in winning two straight games, they fell in their most recent outing versus the Milwaukee Bucks in what was the final game of a four-game road trip as the Bucks were able to go on a 31-16 run in the fourth quarter in which to pull out a hard-fought victory in what was a rather close game throughout.
On the other hand, the Orlando Magic will be playing the last game of the six-game disastrous road trip as they are only 1-4 as they fell to the Sacramento Kings in their last matchup as the Kings went up by 17 points at the half while widening their lead in the third quarter by outscoring the road team 32-20 as the Magic was simply lifeless throughout the contest. Nonetheless, the Magic are 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings in Salt Lake City.
Orlando Magic 's Latest Performance :
As stated, the Orlando Magic have simply been terrible lately as they have won only one game within their current 6 game road trip thus far. They will wrap up their forgettable road trip against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night and will certainly bring the focus and intensity in which to pick up a much-needed win. They certainly stunk up the floor, yet again, versus the Sacramento Kings in their last outing as they only shot 39% from the floor while allowing Sacramento to convert on 47% of their shots for the night in addition to also making good on 10 three-pointers as De’aaron Fox led the way with 20 points for the Kings while Buddy Hield chipped in 13 points while going 3-6 from three-point range in the win.
On the other hand,Terrence Ross continued this hot shooting from the floor as he went 5-10 from three-point range while leading the team in a reserve status with 22 points to lead the team. Nikola Vucevic also chipped in 18 points in the loss while Evan Fournier went 4-6 from three-point range while ending with 15 points. Aaron Gordon struggled, once again, for the Magic as he went 3 – 13 from the floor while chipping in 10 points.
In all, Gordon has been a huge reason as to the Magic’s struggles lately as he has not been able to get into any type of groove, at all. The Magic has lost four of their last five games overall, as their offenses only put up an average of 97 points during this time. Of course, the defense has been able to limit the damage done by opponents by playing solid on the defensive end of the floor; However, at some point, the offense must be able to put a bit more points on the board in which to give this team a better chance of winning.
Utah Jazz's Latest Performance :
Giannis Antetokounmpo poured in 30 points for the Milwaukee Bucks in their last outing versus the Utah Jazz as they were able to go on a fourth quarter run in which to pull out a victory over the Jazz, who came into the game winners of two straight. While the Jazz shot just 41% from the floor, they were able to get 14 3-pointers, as a team, throughout the contest as Donovan Mitchell was responsible for six of these attempts as he ended the game with 26 points, yet also having seven turnovers as well. Rudy Gobert finished with 14 points along with pulling down 15 rebounds.
The Jazz actually held a three-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter in this contest, yet the Bucks were able to grab control of the game after a three-pointer by Malcolm Brogdon, who ended the game with 21 points, to give the home team a six-point lead. ”We can’t sulk,” Mitchell said. ”We’ve got to go out there and compete.” With that being said, the Jazz will look to regroup in this contest versus the Orlando Magic, who have been simply terrible both on the road as well as at home, recently. Nonetheless, as stated, the Magic have played well at Vivint Home Smart Arena recently as they have covered the spread in five of the last six meetings, overall.
How Orlando Magic & Utah Jazz Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Orlando is 20-20 against the spread while the OU is 16 – 24
Utah is 20 – 20 – 1 against the spread while the OU is 20 – 20
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Magic seek to make things right in this contest versus a Utah team that will also be looking to atone for a loss. With that being said, look for the Magic to push the pace to kick start their awful offense in which to give themselves some type of advantage in picking up a win. On the other hand, the Jazz will also be looking to atone from their last loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. In all, one should certainly expect a very competitive matchup among these two teams as Ricky Rubio is questionable with a hamstring injury for the Jazz.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Utah Jazz
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Jazz in this contest as Orlando has no pulse at all during a critical time of the season. As stated, they are only 1-4 in their last five outings and will certainly enter this game looking to halt this streak. Nonetheless, Gordon will continue to struggle as well as other pivotal players within the Orlando lineup, thus signaling that the Jazz will certainly get back on track in this contest while picking up the hard-fought victory as well.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
I happen to believe that Mitchell and Company will certainly put points on the board for the Utah Jazz in this contest. The problem is that I do not believe that Orlando will follow suit. It is for this reason that I will back the under amongst these two teams in that both defenses that will be taking the floor on this night have been very solid. With that being said, they will, for the most part, limit offensive opportunities for each of these inconsistent offenses as the total will certainly not surpass its limit.
