Atlanta Hawks (12-27) vs Brooklyn Nets (20-22)

Location : Barklays Center, Brooklyn, New York

Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Atlanta Hawks vs Brooklyn Nets

The Atlanta Hawks will visit the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, to battle the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Nets halted a 3 game losing streak their last time out as they fell to the Boston Celtics on the road as they were unable to go undefeated during a three-game road trip with the Celtics shooting 50% from the floor while allowing just 40% for the Brooklyn Nets.  In all, the visitors were not able to get anything going on the offensive end throughout the game.

On the other hand, the Atlanta Hawks halted a 3 game losing streak with a home win over the Miami Heat in their last outing as the Hawks were able to utilize a 41-point third quarter in which to outscore the Miami Heat by 20 points en route to the much-needed victory, only their third in seven games, overall. Unfortunately, the Hawks are only 1-7 against the spread in the last eight meetings versus the Brooklyn Nets while the under has been the play in five of the last seven meetings amongst these two teams at Barclays Center.

Atlanta Hawks's Latest Performance :

Amazingly enough, during a  recent three-game road trip, the Atlanta Hawks ended the trip allowing opponents to score an average of 130 points after a 144 point output by the Milwaukee Bucks on January 4th. Nonetheless, the Hawks were able to put in a much better defensive performance versus the Miami Heat in their last outing as they allowed just 82 points while the struggling Heat shot just 35% from the floor while making good on just five of 34 attempts from long-range as Josh Richardson along with Justise Winslow went a combined 7 for 27 from the floor on the night in which to lead the team with 13 and 11 points.

Trae Young along with DeAndre Bembry led the Atlanta Hawks with 19 and 17 points as Young also had four turnovers for the night. Jeremy Lin also had 15 points  for the contest as he also dished out five assists as well for an Atlanta team that shot 47% from the floor on the night while also going a respectable 41% from three-point range. The Heat certainly did not help their chances for winning the game in converting just over 50% on 27 free throws for the night.

Atlanta will look to feed from the momentum of this win in which to carry into their present matchup versus the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. As I stated, Atlanta will also look to atone for their prior three-game road trip to where they allowed teams to score at will, essentially, as they were able to average 130 points per game during this time.

Brooklyn Nets's Latest Performance :

After averaging 117 points  during their prior three-game winning streak, the offense for the Brooklyn Nets grinded to a halt versus a motivated Boston Celtics squad at TD Bank Arena in their last outing as the Nets were only able to shoot 40% from the floor while being led by Rodions Kurucs as he led the team with 24 points while Spencer Dinwiddie went 4-10 from the floor along with 1-6 from three-point range is he ended with 15 points on the night for a Nets team that were without Joe Harris as well as Demarre Carroll, who each did not suit up due to injury.

D’Angelo Russell was horrible as he ended the game with just five points along with dishing out five assists in addition to having six turnovers on the night. Unfortunately, the defensive effort was simply just not there for Brooklyn on this night as the Celtics were allowed to obtain 8 double digit scorers on the night led by Kyrie Irving along with Jayson Tatum who chipped in 17 and 16 points, respectively, with Kyrie Irving also dishing out six assists.

Nonetheless, the Brooklyn Nets will be looking to suit up, once again, at home, where they are winners of three of the last four  overall, and which to Faced an Atlanta team that picked up a huge win in which to halt a losing streak in their last outing, as stated, yet, are winless in their last three road games, overall.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will be an interesting matchup amongst these two teams as Atlanta will be looking to have a carryover effect from their last victory at home versus a struggling Miami Heat squad. Nonetheless, the Hawks  have played awful on the road in their prior three road games. On the other hand, the Nets will return home to where they will play two of their next three games, in which two get back on track, particularly, on the offensive end, after a dismal performance versus a Boston Celtics team that they will face at home, once again, on the 14th of this month.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Brooklyn Nets

My reason for the pick :

Look for the Nets to get back on track in this matchup as I have little to no faith that the Atlanta Hawks will maintain their cohesion on the offensive end of the floor in this matchup, or for much longer for that matter. On the other hand, Demarre Carroll may indeed be back in the lineup for Brooklyn in this contest as  he will certainly provide added offensive production. Also, look for Russell to have a much better night in this contest as he was non-existent versus Kyrie Irving and Company in their last defeat.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the over in this contest as while  the Hawks are allowing opponents  47% efficiency from the floor on a nightly basis. On the other hand, the Nets are allowing around the same percentage, thus signaling that the over is indeed the strong play for this matchup. Also, the over has been the play in three of the last four  home games for the Nets while also being the result in three of the last four road games for the Hawks.

Betting trends for Atlanta Hawks:

  • Hawks are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 0 days rest.
Hawks are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 Wednesday games.
Under is 6-1 in Hawks last 7 games playing on 0 days rest.

Betting trends for Brooklyn Nets:

  • Nets are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games.
Nets are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
Nets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
