Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Detroit Pistons vs Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings return home to the Golden 1 Center after playing on the road in their last outing and they will play host to the Detroit Pistons in a cross-conference matchup, the opening tipoff is slated for 10:00 PM. The Sacramento Kings are still young and inexperienced but they have been impressive in the early going as they are hovering around the 8th spot in the Western Conference while the Detroit Pistons have been awful over the last few weeks as they have lost 7 of their last 10 games.
Detroit Pistons's Latest Performance :
The Detroit Pistons have two all-stars in their starting lineup and a great coach in Dwane Casey but they have failed to gain much traction in the weak Eastern Conference as they currently sit 9th in the standings. The Pistons added to a losing streak to begin the week as they played host to the San Antonio Spurs and lost 119-107. PF Blake Griffin has been stellar for the Pistons this season and we saw that on display against the Spurs as he dropped 34 points and dished out 8 assists. Joining Griffin in the frontcourt is C Andre Drummond who is a double-double machine and he hit that mark once again as he recorded 19 points and 14 rebounds in the loss. Griffin has been the leading scorer for the Pistons all season long as he averages 25.3 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 5.2 APG while Drummond has been a force down low as he averages 17.1 PPG and 14.9 RPG. The Pistons need to find more consistency out of their guard play as Reggie Jackson and Reggie Bullock are both double-digit scorers, Jackson and Bullock combined for 27 points against the Spurs. The bench play has been iffy for the Pistons all season long as they don’t have great depth but they were fairly solid against the Spurs as 2nd-year pro Luke Kennard dropped 10 points with 2 assists and forward Jon Leuer dropped 10 points himself. The Pistons will be looking to return PG Ish Smith from injury soon who is a solid playmaker for Casey and company.
Sacramento Kings's Latest Performance :
The Sacramento Kings are one of the younger teams in the NBA and they may still be a couple of years away from competing in the Western Conference but they have still been impressive as they are in the middle of the pack in the tougher conference. The Kings youth showed in their recent matchup against the Phoenix Suns as they were unable to put them away on the road and eventually fell 115-111. No other Kings has been as good as 2nd-year pro De’Aaron Fox and we saw him lead the way against the Suns with 24 points and 5 assists. Fox is the 2nd leading scorer on the team with 18 PPG but it’s his playmaking ability that makes him so appealing as he averages 7.3 APG and 1.8 SPG. The former Oklahoma Sooner SG Buddy Hield leads the Kings in scoring with 20.2 PPG and he fell just short of that mark against the Suns with a 16-point performance. The bench play was fairly strong for the Kings as Ben McLemore had a breakout performance with 20 points in 18 minutes while Justin Jackson contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds. Perhaps the difference in this game was the fact that Bogdan Bogdanovic was only able to drop 7 points in this game which is half the amount of production he produces in a game (15.4 PPG). The Kings are looking forward to returning their 1st round pick from this past draft in the upcoming weeks as Marvin Bagley should be a difference maker.

Against The Spread Selection: Sacramento Kings
My reason for the pick :
The Kings are a fun team to watch as they have young guys who play the game so well and I think they continue to fight for a playoff spot in the tough Western Conference. The Pistons have more all-stars on their team and sure they may hold a major advantage down low against the Kings but they have only won 3 games in their last 10 outings and with them going out West for a road trip I don’t think it gets much better. I believe Fox is one of the better PGs in the Western Conference and I think he asserts his dominance in this game with his backcourt mate in Buddy Hield. The Kings have slightly more depth and they should be able to outscore a weak Pistons bench. Ride with Sacramento at home.
